  • Back in the saddle with a 1179

Well it took 3 garages, and 5 mths but i finally got my bike back on the weekend. I broke the motor in on sunday (5 20mins drives 5th gear 60 to 80 kms constantly up & down on throttle with a 1 hour total cool down in between to set the rings) I finally took my bike to work today (no rain & or snow) & had a ride at lunch & will take it tommorow. then it rains etc again. It took quite awhile to find someone to work on it - & then 2 1/2 mths (it sat there for wks without no one working on it) Quite an odessey with my patience but alas I have it back & man alive that bike is one smooooth monster now. They re-did the heads & valves also. There is alot to be said about living in the country up north (no traffic lights on the whole island) but no population also to have any dudes around with expertice with these old bikes. Anyways is great to ridin' again on my dream scoot from the '80's. And man the attention its gettin wherever I go & also parked outside in front of the office is amazing. Jus thought I'd throw this out there as its been a long haul but I made it & lookin at it right now through the window it was worth it - adios Dan

Awesome. I hope that you enjoy riding your refurbished ride as I am riding mine. Was really cool today to head to work and decide to hit the freeway for the short hop to work and open it up. Couldn't do that with the old engine, the bum rod would have likely gone through the case.

Hey thx - Yeh I originally thought it would take about a month at the most to get it done. Man was I wrong. You don't realize how much you can miss ridin' till you can't - its a drag. But hey good times now!!! - Dan
