I figure a 1000-post thread is a good enough place for my first post.

I just got one of these.

Welcome to the site. This is a great place for info on these bikes. Please take a look at the search function. Most things have been covered before. Once you read them, and get really confused, then post away and there will be plenty here that will help you.

Hey, thanks everybody. I'm in Richmond, VA...I'll get that into my profile.

My avatar is the bike I bought - the before picture. I've got the fairings, bags and other touring doodads off already. Even found a perfect seat under the "poodle," as my friends called that seat cover.

Got some big plans and am looking forward to it.

                BEFORE

                AFTER

Here are a couple of pics of how I bought it and where it is now.

I need to figure out the headlight so I haven't had it on the highway since I removed the fairing. Air filter was crazy dirty and it was having trouble breathing before. Now I've removed the air box and got the pod filters on and it screams. Holy crap!

Next up is an R6 front end.

Don't throw away the air box yet!!!!!!!! You need to modify those EMGO style pod air filters because they are restrictive and will probably need to go up a main jet size or two in the carbs. Read this thread on how to get the most out of those air filters.

I'm holding onto stuff until I get it sorted. I've only ridden once since I pulled everything off, so I'm nowhere near done.

                        Thanks for the advice.

Oh, it's not worth much at all. I just thought the hard bags would make really good flower pots.

Welcome to the forum! I actually liked the "Before" picture better...

Yeah, the scarcity of parts for these bikes makes swapping and trading a regular occurence around here. This has been called "The brotherhood of the travelling parts". If you have extra stuff, there is usually someone interested in it, and if you need parts, there is usually someone who has one on here. Just ask, and someone will pop out of the woodwork.
