  • New Paint on my Sled

I am still learning the finer points of the airbrush. Here is the latest on the hood of my sled:

Unfortunately, I won't get to ride it like this, as I am selling this sled now as I bought a new one, but it was fun anyway.

It is a 2006 Arctic Cat M7, 162" track. The airbrushing is all Auto Air paint done freehand. It is clearcoated in Polyurethane with flex additive to prevent cracking.
Healthy is merely the slowest rate at which you can die

Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better. I’ve always believed this, in spite of the trouble it’s caused me. Being shot out of a cannon will always be better than being squeezed out of a tube. That is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba….Hunter S. Thompson

    That is awesome!

Will you get artistic with new sled's hood?

Wow, looks real nice. Wish I had a shred of artistic talent.

If not too much trouble ...
Could you take some pics next time of the process.

Thanks for all the nice comments. It is hard to judge my own work, since I look at it differently than everyone else.

I am planning to do the full hood on my new sled. This sled is black, and will be treated very differently. I will post it when it is done. It should be pretty neat.

I will try to take some pics of the next paint I do. There are alot of steps (prolly 40-50 color changes on this hood alone), so I won't post all of the pics, but major steps. Freehand is alot easier and alot fewer steps, but it produces a fuzzier, more surreal look (like on this hood) than other styles that use more templates. It is all in the look you are trying to create, but there are alot less steps in something like this hood, than in something like my bike (pics of that posted on here, somewhere, too).

The new sled will have alot more going for it, too. It is a 2008 arctic cat M1000cc. I am moving my Boss Noss setup over from this M7 and installing it on the new one. After this and the associated tuning, it will be putting out in the neighborhood of 225-230 hp. It should climb darn near anything

              Hi '71,
on a black hood, how about a repeat of the man with the scythe but colour-reversed?
