In all reality if I found one cheap with problems, I would be as happy as a pig in Shiite... I will probably be selling my Goldwing next year and maybe my VW Bug so there should be room in the stable for a FJ1100 rocket bike.

I service a bunch of these back when they were new and I'm more than familiar with what a FJ will do...

Geez, I don't know if it sold already, but there was one in the Smith River area, near CA OR border, for a REALLY decent price about a week ago.

I'm afraid not. The XJR head, pistons and cylinders are the same as the FJ's. I've tried to fit them onto XS studs but they are spaced differently.

I've got a '95 XJR1200 which i've made up from bits on ebay. I rebuilt an FJ engine using XJR gearbox, because the main axle shaft is longer on an XJR to line up the rear sprocket with the wheel, without spacing out. I tried using as much FJ stuff in the build but there is not much that is similar. The main problem with the XJR engine is it's lack of power compared to an FJ. 105bhp compared to 125 to 130bhp from an FJ. It's all to do with the carb set up and the inlet manifolds. The standard XJR manifolds restrict the mixture flow by being smaller bore compared to an FJ. So i'm well chuffed with my project as it is standard tuned FJ1200, with the standard carbs and manifolds, compared with the under-powered XJR.
