  • 80's BMW's??

So since I have learned to trust this forums mechanical abilities and you guys have led me through some serious problems, thought I would see if anyone has an opinion on the bmw E28 models.

I am looking at buying a 85 bmw 535i...little worried about maintence costs but the thing is cheap, nice looking, and fast!

Oh and black to match the xs100.

    Any thoughts?

If you don't want any money left to go riding on, get the BMW. There is a VERY GOOD reason it's "cheap", and that has NOTHING to do with the cost of parts! BMW's That you KNOW the complete history of CAN be a good buy, but if it's just from someone off the street, I would NOT spend a nickel on it.

Yep it's fast and fun to drive.I really like German cars.If you like the car because it's a fine automobile and don't mind the maintenance costs then buy it.(after having it inspected by a good euro car technician)But if your thinking it's going to be inexpensive to drive and maintain I would say think twice before getting out your checkbook.

        hmm

This was my main worry. Yet the car has been maintained by the main BMW shop here in nashville since 1998. so I was thinking about going by there and seeing what they have to say.

That would be a VERY GOOD idea! All you need to do is get the VIN and plate number from the car and take that with you. They should be able to tell you if the present owner has been informed of a "high dollar" repair that will be needed soon.
