After spending several days getting every spec of rust off (real PITA)
I dropped off the fenders at the powder coaters, and mentioned that I had just finished working on the exhaust ... he said I should have just dropped it off and he would have done it in his blast cabinet for free

I was pleasantly surprised how nice they came out.
Headers in particular were badly pitted and required hours of work to get em looking good.

AND it's Johns fault I wound up doing this.

AND it’s Tods fault I polished the breather cover as he “dissed” my polishing the oil filter cover fins. He needs something he can see ” w/o standing on his head”

            LOL
You let Tod get to you on the polishing? The only time his poor bike ever gets polished is when I can't take it anymore... of course, it usually begins with the words "wash me" written somewhere in the dirt...

(yeah... now he'll throw that - 25,000 miles of riding is better than a few hours of polishing - thing in... )

John, on the other hand... yep... keeps a mighty clean machine... and still finds time to ride... although... it could stand a little attention now too.
(getting my dirt writing finger ready)
            lol

as for the last photo... at least you were wearing pants...
            lol

            Looks really good!
            (the bike... not... oh nevermind)
            lol

hey Mike... would you mind posting a few pics of the exhaust... close up?

Had crossed my mind to use a "semi-gloss" on the muffs, but decided to see how it would look as is.

When I get around to the MNS, plan to try out the 1,000 degree powder coat

So what did you use on the mufflers?

Hey Tod, please note pic #7
Next time going to do the oil pan too

Dents took a few hours to fix over about four days.
A PO had dropped it on the right side and was a little nasty scrape on the left.

                        Paint?

What ... I was supposed to paint em too?

High temp adhesion promotor followed by
1,200 degree "Stove Bright", satin black

On the hot rod XS I've tried BBQ paint and header paint.
Looked OK but did not last more than a few months before needing touch up. Thought I'd give Stove Bright a try.

                            sweet looking set of pipes!!

                            Hi ken,
powder coating idea came when I thought about those parts you had done. I'd already done the prep work on these pipes so powder coat was not an option with out removeing all the JB weld and putting on Lab Metal. When I do the MNS hope to have simular job done like your parts. How have they held up?

Never know XSactly how some things may turn out till there done.
Been trying to salvage the standard pipes but may not make it short of re-chrome or a paint/coat job

Lot depends on how much time willing to spend and what you start with.
This whole project started out as a simple carb cleaning

The bike looks GREAT. I like the black cases with buffed covers. The exhaust system turned out nice!!! Is the case paint high heat? I have not seen high heat gloss black on the shelfs around here. It's always flat black.
