  • to the good guys

As I sit around healing from my accident, I can't help be humbled by the generosity of the people that have come to my aid. We seem to only hear of the bad side of humanity, while the good guy goes unrecognized.

A guy in 4x4 came up on my accident just after it happened. His truck was stacked full of fire wood. He stayed with me, while Jason drove to the nearest phone. I was obviously in shock and he knew it. He offered to off load his fire wood at the near by ranger station, load my bike in the back and drive me 180 miles back to Lewiston. He was troubled that he could not do more.

My cousin Alan and his wife, who live in Lewiston, drove the 180 miles with truck and trailer there and back. It took 8hrs out of their day. Not to mention the two hours he and his wife waited at the hospital. I know he is family, and that is what family does. Never the less, I am impressed.

My good friend Meri and her family offered to take time off from work to drive the 800 miles (round trip) from Oly to bring me and my bike home.

My cousin Alan, offered to drive me and my bike home.

While I was waiting along side the road, countless cycler slowed down to lend assistance. Since everything was under control, I would give them the 'thumbs up' sign and they motored on.

I try to be a good human and help my fellow man, when I can. After this experience I wonder if do enough? I have so much respect for these people that are so willing to give so much to a knuckle head that hit a rock and fell off his motorcycle.

Here is to the good people!

    Pay it forward

Its not just a movie to me. I can not agree with you more Deny. I can think of SOOO many time sin my life that someone stopped to help me out when I ran out of gas or broke down on the side of the road.

I had a similar incident in that I broke down on the side of I-75 in Cincinnati and a guy stopped and helped me load up my Honda 750 in his truck bed and drove me home a good thirty miles. Was no where near where he was going, but he refused to take a dime for gas or anything.

I take every chance I can to help soemone else out in part to try to stay even for some of my transgressions in life, and in part hoping to get ahead or break even for all the help I have recieved. Some days, I wonder if I will ever get close. There are still good folks out there, we as human beings just seem to be more enthralled with the ugliness so that is what the news shows us. Don't beleive me, look at the ratings of all these insane "Reality" shows.

It came out the best. It and it's buddies are out there looking to mess up other MC trips.

I am sorry to hear about your spill as well. Sounds like you rode that horse farther than I could have. I hope you get better very soon.
