  • Sacrilege!

I am guilty as charged. Last weekend, I had to the opportunity to test ride a new VRCS HD Nite-Rod. I have to admit that was one of the nicest bikes I have ever ridden. The power curve was similiar to the XS (5-9K). The seat was perfect. It had 120 hp at its disposal thanks to the Vance Hines pipe and stage one power commander. It did, however, steer like a freight train. Being used to the XS, the corners had to be taken more slowly, as I kept dragging my heels on the forward controls. All in all, though, this was a terrific bike, plus it looked awesome!
Now if I could only find the required $18,000 for it.....Back to the XS!

YEah, I actually stopped by a Harley shop once that was next to the movie theater we were waiting on a movie to start at. I saw one of those. It was the first Harley I actually would consider owning.. sort of. It had a lot of the curves I like about the XJ. The salesman was giving me his pitch and ended with, "Dude, these things will do a quarter mile in the ELEVENS!! That's where he lost me. I laughed and said.. "Pfffft. I have a 30 year old Yamaha that'll do that!?"

$18k huh? At the current price I have been giving for them, I could have somewhere @ 36 XS/XJ bikes. So a good running one is only worth $1500? Know how much it'll be worth in 10 years? At LEAST $1500. Pay $18k for that Harley. How much will it be worth in 10 years? Not only that... you've bought a Harley to conform.. and not even the Harley guys recognize those as a bike. You wouldn't fit in anywhere! lol.

      Common Rods

are what they are referred to as around here. Also have a bad reputation for blowing up / locking up when pedalled hard. What they call hard riding is a mild cruise for an 11. Last but definitely not least, ask the salesman who designed the powerplant. some of them don't like to admit that Hogly had to get Porsche to do it.

Ha Ha, that is true. l just can't believe that price for a motorcycle. Up here in MT, we had our last snow on the 17th of June, and we have already seen it again in the high country. I could only justify that kind of money if I could chain it up and ride it year round. It was fun to take a test spin on, though.
I guess I will just take some of the styling cues from the Rod and incorporate them...
