Are you using Internet Exploder 6.x by chance?

Hmm, that would probably rule out cookie issues. Do you use dialup or broadband? I suggest trying out Mozilla or Netscape 7.02, I've not had any problem with the XS forums with either, currently I am using Mozilla 1.4 RC1. You may also try running Ad-aware from Lavasoft, it's free and it detects most spyware/adware. Make sure to update before you scan. I know that some spyware/adware can badly affect lots of things in IE. You should prolly also run windowsupdate and patch as necessary.

I do use dial up as it is my only option out here in the boonies, but I now know when it has disconnected, so doubt if that is the problem. It use to disconnect on long emails, but I got smart and do something once and a while to keep it connected. I do watch the show TechTV/ Call for help and downloaded I think it was Spybot per there suggestion, maybe I need to see if I can get it uninstalled and try that or one of your webserver suggestions and see what happens.

JC, here's a thought - compose your message in Notepad or some other text editor, then just copy and paste it into the message composition window in the forum. Then if you lose it, it isn't lost, if you get my meaning!

Yeah, thanks Mike and everyone else who replied. I will try your suggestion, should have thought of that sooner, DUH. Anyway just got my computer back from local shop, been needing to take it in anyhow for virus protection / update. They loaded all the new updates and checked for virus's so will see how it goes. I still can't get the websites parts list of the microfiche on my 79 XS11 special from the sources page to come up though, (that I have posted on the XS11 topics) says something about my security settings and cookies now. Lowered my settings as low as possible still no dice, guess it could be the web site? If any of you get bored I would not mind to know if it is or isn't working for other people, if you have the time let me know!
                Thanks again, JC

jchigbee, two things I do to keep my dial-up connection alive -
have my email running and have it check for new messages every 8 minutes. In the past some ISP's would disconnect your dial-up connection if 10 minutes of inactivity was sensed, as in a long post.

The other is to set your Internet Explorer settings to not disconnect-
Tools | Internet Options | Connection tab | then in the little window highlight your (default) connection. Then click on the Settings | Advanced (near the bottom) | and Un-check the two "Disconnect if idle..." and Disconnect if connection is no longer needed." OK out and Apply.
