I've owned 2 FJ1200s' and a Honda ST1100...so those rides are what spoiled me in sport touring...can you sport tour on our vintage bikes...hell yeah but you cant match the comfort, smoothness or weather cheating of an integrated bodyand fairing...or range per tank of gas... The past two XSEast rallies Marty and Tom have ridden their FJRs' and they are beautiful bikes in their own right..IMHO the FJR is the best looking of all the sport touring bikes out there...cant wait to get one

Ben, you'd better have some beers cold Sat morning. I'm bringing everything I've got. Spare coils, pickups, ballast, TCI, reluctor, advance mechanism - the works. Even if we have to convert it to mech advance, at least you'll be back on the road.

Oh, just don't make me work on gears - eek!

Solution, find another cheap XS/XJ fixer upper. You already know how to work on them and you would have a rotation for when one is down, work on it and ride the other. Plus you could customize one and leave the other stock so it would be like two different bikes. Just a thought.

Well I sold the others because I needed the money and had other priorities...namely renovation of our home ...once thats done and the house sells then the stable will grow once again.

Thats not a bad idea and I may do that eventually...however at this point in time I am trying to I am trying to lighten the material stuff ...will be wanting to relocate to another state once the house is sold... I am still going to want a more up to date ride as stated earlier...

Yeah there are many great people there...but we have North Carolina in our sights...Texas is too hot or too wet or just too damn spread out. Cities are huge especcially Houston...was there once..it was awful...I hated the summer heat and humidity.

                          Hi Max,
Yeah, I had two bikes but had to sell the more marketable one, an R90 BMW, to pay my daughter's college tuition fee. Then she dropped out.
I will never be caught like that again.

I don't believe your going to get rid of the Maxim. But if you are you should stop and see me, I could get a 94 fzr 1000 to trade you without much trouble.......but I wouldn't give the xj back when you change your tune...
