My opinion the RCA Building (48th and 5th IIRC) has a better view than the Empire State Building. It's only 70 stories but you can see uptown AND downtown.

And if you are a history buff, draw a 100 mile radius from Manhattan and you will find more history than anywhere else in our country.

Fawmuh New Yawkuh - and my mudduh and fadduh are from da Bronx - what, you got a problem widdat??? (yeah I've been to Mama Leone's)
Fawmuh Joisey boy (yeah I been to Palisades Park, Battle of the Bands in Wildwood, slept under the boardwalk in Asbury Park, shot the tolls on the Garden State Parkway...)

NYC and metro area is the best place on da planet.... to visit!

That was one thing that really impressed me when we were there... the history... When I thought of history in the northeast, the first places that always came to mind were Boston and Virgina... but New York is RICH in history... from Washington's inauguration on up (and back)

I could have spent hours at Trinity Church... I like checking out the grave stones in cemetaries and finding the oldest ones... It was pretty cool to see those dating back to the early 1700s...

and Marty... you writing that... I really wish I had taken a picture as we were going back to the airport of the road sign that read...

I got a kick out of that one...

While the Revolutionary War began in Boston and essentially ended in victory at Yorktown VA the bulk of the war was fought in NJ...all over this stse are colonial homes that Gen'l Washington either slept in or used as his HQ's...he moved around alot...there must be close to a dozen homes that he used for this purpose...and OFC the crossing of the Delaware river during the winter and the capture of the Hessians barracks in Trenton on Christmas day without even a shot being fired... I'll have to go back a reread about what year it was.... Christmas day 1776

Wow! Nice daytrip trip and photos, Kat, but how'd you get your bike to fly and go through the airport security?

The road sign Kat wrote about is on the Belt Parkway as you cross the border from Brooklyn into Queens it reads:

              "You are now leaving Brooklyn...Fuhgeddaboudit"

There's also one entering Brooklyn on the same highway from Staten Island that reads "You are now entering Brooklyn...How sweet it is" (reference to Ralph Kramden who supposedly lived on Chauncey Street in Brooklyn)

              Yeah, we're strange
