  • Uh oh, not again!

Yep, looks like I will be picking up my 3rd XS tomorrow.

I found a 78E in town for $250. PO claims it runs, but haven't heard it yet.

It has the wrong signal lights, Pacifico fairing, and seat on it, and a carrier/backrest that, while in good shape, isn't made for the XS.

It has ~69,000kms on the odo. Needs sidecovers and a major rewire to fix a fuse block hack.

Other than that it's ll there. PO said he cleaned the carbs, and afterwards cyls 1&3 weren't firing.

He also has a '75 Kawasaki 750 twin for $300...
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

Sounds like you bought it "right", Craz... can't beat that price, (unless you'd got it for free, I guess!)

Congrats, and look forward to seeing your "new" project and it's resurrection!

    Be well, and ride safe.

        Hi Craz,
My wife was prowling the garage yesterday in full SWMBO mode muttering about there being too many bikes in it.
So on sober second thought, I won't tell my son Eric about the 750 Kawi even though he really liked the one he had in Australia.
But last I heard, all your machinery has to live outside. Is it build a shed time yet?

I have 2 sheds, but no room in them for bikes!

I have covers for 2. The Special came with a Hondaline cover, which is on the GT750. I bought a cover at Princess Auto for $16 (sale) which is currently on the Special.

The G is used daily, so no cover for it, and the new one is VERY used to sitting outside!

As for running, for $250 it doesn't much matter. It's stilla complete bike for parts if nothing else. He just told me that they dragged it out of his cousins shed, last summer, rebuilt the carbs, and after that it would only run on cylinders 2 and 4. This means, to me, that they have the infamous pick-up coil issue, or a bad coil or wiring.

By looking a the hatchet job on the fuse block, wiring is not that out there.

This one has that Pacifico fairing, which is not the best, but it has the full Pacifico mount setup incase I can find the correct fairing for the year.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

I didn't think they made a 750 twin in 75?? Tripple possibly? Either way, it would fit in my stable!

KZ750B2 twin, four stroke with dual overhead cams was my 1st street bike, they claimed it was the most powerful vert twin of the day. Was plenty quick for me at the time. Lots of good memories (lost my virginity due to that bike), but on a ride of 100 or more miles the vibes would numb my hands. Once was riding in the rain on that bike thru the Columbia Gorge from Pendleton to Portland and getting rained on...stopped and bought a cheap yellow rain suit at Biggs Junction...it filled with air and the entire back blew out but the front was still keeping me dry...so I rode thru the storm like some kinda weird tattered bright yellow banshee for a hundred miles or so...

I forgot about the 4 stroke.. I was thinking of the 750 triple 2 stroke.. I had one of those .. True crotch rocket!! I never wore the front tire out on it because it was rarely on the road..

My dad had one of those...an ill-handling beast. It spit him off as he passed a semi at about 70mph due to a high speed wobble. They had to peel the sheets off of him for a couple of weeks in the hosp. I had the 500cc version for a short time...it was wheelie happy too...3rd gear wheelies were no problem even with the 500.

I'd buy the 750 myself, but I really couldn't afford the XS. I am trying to convince one of my freinds to take it home. If they do nothing with it, I can do it later.

The exhaust is nice, although it's off a special!

This one will be a slow project. I don't have the money to fix it up quickly. I will have to try and accumulate what it needs as cash comes available.

So far it needs: Right handlebar controls, sidecovers, proper seat with the plastic surround, Probably a wiring harness, proper signal lights.

The airbox came with it, although it's not on. So far it has no spark, but the TCI checks out ok.

When I crank it, no spark, but there is a buzz for a few seconds after it stops cranking, which is high tension voltage discharging from #4 Spark plug wire to ground, not through the plug. DAMHIFO!
