  • oh xs, evil and lean...

    how fast could you
really go? Fast enough to get
you into trouble plenty. Pick your
    battles, friends. My dream house
is at 185 bonneville salt flats.

185 would be WAY over stock redline. Valves would NOT take that speed without a LOT of work, as well as work on the ports to flow the air needed.
That said, a 750 final drive, turbo charger and titanium keepers for the valves MAY make it possible. If you want to go with a bottle, get the XJ head with the YICS ports and use them for the injectors for the N.O.. Just need a way to increase the fuel supply when the button is pushed.

I think some beefing up of the frame and forks would be a must as well.

          If you wanna

Take it to the salt, start with a CHAIN DRIVE CONVERSION so it can be geared for speed,: rather than revved to destruction

If a 1920's Indian can do it, it should be a cakewalk with an XS11.

You would have to do alot to get there.

185? IMO, you would have to do alot to get there. Numerically, I think the 11 would have a max of around 170 at the red line with the stock overdrive gearing in 5th and the stock shaft drive and rear end. Soooo, you would be talking alot of mods and other considerations to even approach that 170 mark much less 185.

But, if you have the time and cash, have fun trying.

Trainzz and I layed the smack down on a Meanstreak at close to $1.40. Trainzz had the stock FD and I the 750. He pulled harder at the big end, but I was still accellerating when the speedo was saying 130+. Later on my GPS program on the phone showed 135, and was sampling every 5 seconds. IIRC, the revs were about 6k on my scoot. Not sure what Trainzz was pulling.

All that is to say with sea level (we are at about 2400 MSL here) and a nice long level run with no bumps, I'd bet an XS11 with a 750 FD would get darn close to $1.85. It would take some room, and some courage.

FWIW, I was not at all concerned with the forks or any handling issues on my fastest run. I remember being pleasantly surprised at how well it stayed tame. The forks only worry me when trying to whip around traffic at 60. Then they flex and shudder. Straight line, no problem.

                      wasn't me

                      Ivan, Ivan, Ivan....

That wasn't me, as I would never (ever!!) go faster than the posted limit......

I am amazed how stable Thunderpig is at speed in excess of 120Mph. Although changing lanes is a little sppoky.
