Except for me and my 29 year old bike and it's (estimatedly) 35 year old sidecar which is the affordable summer toy of an elderly eccentric.

As much as i'm not into side chair rigs I LIKE THAT Laverda's are cool in thier own right, always wanted a Jota, and it hasnt at all been disgraced by the "growth" on the side of it. 20K is nothing for the work that's gone it that.

          Very nice work!

Here is another that Ray and I saw at the Dream Machines at Half Moon Bay a couple of weeks ago.

That is a rotory engine in the car, (The "heads" are dummies,) and the front wheel is also mounted on the sidecar.

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
          I've been riding since 1959.

The driver steers, and the heads from the BMW engine are part of the fuel tank! It seems the teacher I had for TIG class knew the guy who built that rig! He DOES have both rear wheels driven from the engine, and it DOES need the wheelie bars to keep the front end down.

                Hi Ed,
to clarify the front wheel thing, it is mounted in the usual place with it's suspension mounts on the vehicle's integrated frame.
And Ray, it ain't the first 3-wheeler to lift it's front end. Among the first was the 1899-1905 de Dion tricycle and for the same reason, the engine was mounted behind the rear axle. This placed the vehicle's centre of gravity far enough to the rear to make the front wheel a bit light.

I can see the same problem I have with my sidecar; the deflected wind from the sidecar windshield comes at me from the right side. It is most unpleasant
(downright annoying). I have moved the car back as far as I dare, now I am working on tapering the shield all the way from the front of the car. Fred, do you have any problem with side wind on your rig?

                    Hi Rover,
no problem. The bike does not have a windshield to create interference and the rig has a 54" track which puts the sidecar body too far away from the bike for it's air bow-wave to affect the driver.
