I am looking at a luggage rack that came off a 1980 xs1100. I don.t know what model. If it did come off a standard will it fit my 1980 special.

NO The luggage rack for the standard mounts to the frame at the rear and the shocks. The Special for 1980 mounts to the frame at the rear, OVER the grab bar, and at the tail light mount.

The rack for the 80SG that you are looking for is Yamaha part number ACC-11160-10-00 It looks like this...


It takes either the tall or the short adjustable backrest and it also fits the SH model.
