  • Be careful out there

    Hi all,
Glad to be able to be here to write this
Around a couple of months ago I was on my way to work stoped at a intersection that i always went to. looked left right then left again didn't see anything.pulled out then a car appeared out of nowhere . Well after a broke femur and wrist the Dr. says in a couple of weeks the new bone around my metal rod in my leg should be all the way attached and strong enough for me to walk again.
Gotta tell ya this has been no fun ride at all but it could have been a LOT worse.
I miss riding my bike even while in the hospital I would dream of it.Now I just dream of walking again.
The bike fared well thru it all. 1 broken headlight lens and the light still works 1 broken left front turn signal lens and 1 broken left mirror glass I thought the frame would be shot along with wheels and such but they are fine My son in law picked the bike up in his truck, and when he got it home he came and asked for my keys. Then went out and fired it up drove it around the yard then up the road and back. He said it drives like it always had. These are one tough bikes!!
So everyone please be careful out there!

Glad to hear you're doing well after that. Scary stuff out there. Take it easy, and the bike will be there when you're ready for it.

Yes, glad that you are getting better and it wasn't any worse than it was. I hope you are back out soon and a little more cautious.

I was out riding today stopped at a red light with two cars in front of me. It was a single lane and I was kinda over to the middle. Well this jackass in a pickup truck squeezes around to my right within a foot of me (I'm thinking what in the hell is he trying to do?) and as the light is turning green he thinks he's gonna cut me off and get ahead of me. So I gunned it and got in front of him and then took my sweet time a couple blocks up making a right turn so he had to almost stop for me. I may be 50 but I ain't gonna let no 4 wheeler bully me.

I've had a few instances already this year where if I didn't react quickly I could have been in trouble. It is dangerous out there but I guess it's the price one must pay to enjoy riding these bikes.

        Paranoia

Be afraid, be paranoid!!! The worst thing that can happen is you expected something that did not happen. Best case, you were ready for what did!! No down side really!
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.

Glad to hear you are mending!! I KNOW everyone in a car that can see my bike is trying to KILL ME!
I have over 350,000 MILES on two wheels, and WELL over 1,000,000 miles on the road. All I can say is my basic rule of the road, Those that see you are trying to kill you, the rest just don't see you! Ride this way, and you SHOULD be able to ride for a long time. Expect a driver to see you, and you WILL BE DEAD SOON!!!

              Hey Black,

Sorry to hear about your mishap, but glad to hear you're mending! Yea, it only takes about 50 lbs of pressure to break a bone, but a lot more than that to break an XS11!

              Hey Mstic,

Have you read the Ivan Hospitalized thread in the Member's Lounge? You might want to rethink your owning/keeping the right of way technique when playing with a big truck or something!? Next time they might NOT stop for you, but run you over like they did IVAN!!

Better be patient and calm than be right and dead.

Even if you are right, it is much more dangerous for you then for them. I'm glad you made it without problem though.

                  Thanks Terry,
But the turn signal is still in good shape it just broke the lens on it.
Man I can't get over how tough these bikes are
I think I should start looking for some "TONKA" emblems for the tank
