  • Pricing Querry For Vetter Luggage Set

I'm selling a luggage set and wondered what you all think is a fair asking price for it. I'm thinking about popping it up on ebay if no one local wants the lot.

    • Yamaha Fairing - 1 locking compartment
(not sure which one this is, help identifying would be appreciated)

    • Windshield buffed out by professional acrylic worker

    • Cycle sound radio housing (I have a radio/CB too, but assume it's fried)

    • Fog lights with mounting bar and plastic light covers

    •Tail Trunk

    • Pair saddle bags

    • Mounting Hardware

    • All lock cylinders match and I've got 2 newly cut keys that work everything

Also, drop me a line if you're interested in it for yourself.

That is the Vetter made fairing for the xs1100, but the standard generic Vetter tour pack bags and trunk.

Looks to be in pretty good shape.

I paid $500cdn for my set a while back (2yrs?), but it has the Yamaha fairing and bags with the Vetter tour pack trunk.

I thought it was a pretty good deal.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

I agree that those look in real good condition. I can also see that the bags and trunk have been repainted, looks like they were well stripped first though since there is no sign of the old pinstriping left.

From what I have seen pricing can vary widely on these things. I've seen fairings go for as little as $40, and I got my bags (without the mounting frame though) for $36. I paid $40 for my trunk. I have also seen a complete bag and trunk set with mounting hardware go for about $200 recently on ebay. I do know that shipping for those items would not be cheap, not so much because of weight, but rather the size of them.

The fact that the lighting hardware is missing is going to be a major minus, as that hardware is hard to impossible to find now, the wiring pigtail (which I can't tell if it's there or not) can be had from several vendors, but the headlight can be hard to find parts for and the turn signals are even harder to find. I have a windjammer 3 that mostly useless now because the lens on one turn signal got broke, and I can't source a replacement.

It looks like a good looking well maintain set overall, but the value would be higher if the fairing was fully complete.

        Fairing:
The missing lens can be had easily. they are the STOCK XS1100 front signal lens on the standard. Headlamp is the same thing, standard front headlamp.
If you could get the spare parts, it WOULD help with the over all price. Everything together should go for $250 to $500, in my opinion. The Vetter ISN'T my choice, although it's on my present bike. The BIG problem is shipping. you are looking at about $100 to ship zone 2, and about $150 to $200 from one side of the country to the other. Try to find a local buyer, as in craigs list first.

          cywelchjr,
I'm sorry to hear that news about the fairing headlight. I have a Yamaha vetter with the lowers and side bags that came with the bike. They weren't attached to the bike, but the headlight is missing and whatever was the "bucket" or whatever holds the lamp in place, is gone.

            Shipping

Greyhound is the way to go for shipping large items like those. A fairing just like that was sent to me (Florida to California) for around $50 and it only took 3 days!!!!!

Not headlight on mine, the turn signal. I'm thinking about getting a set of standard front turn signals and putting on it (I don't have any since mine came with fairing already on it and with a spare fairing). Actually the one with the broken turn signal is the one that was on the bike when I bought it, but was not the original, it came as a spare. I of course broke the signal by dropping the bike in my driveway . One of those embarassing moments as you get used to the size, weight and balance of the bike.

Remember, there are those who have dropped their bike, and those who will, and most of the first group are still in the second group.

That is a VERY nice set of bags. The fact that you have the mounting hardware will dramatically increase the value of the set. As mentioned, the shipping will be the biggiest issue in selling them though. There is a set of just the saddlebags and frame (no trunk) on ebay right now, and they are asking $175. Of course they don't look anywhere near as nice as yours. Trunks by themselves are running anywhere from $45-$125 plus shipping. One problem is that not everyone is looking for the whole set, and only want either the bags OR the trunk OR the fairing.
