I have a tough time with all the posts where people are destroying perfectly good classic bikes, either to try and make a crotch rocket out an antique, or trying to make them look like some refugee from the 1950's.
Especially when they start with ones in really nice shape to begin with.

This thread was never about hard tails.I had the oppurtinty to ride a coworkers costume hard tail chopper and it was by far a joy.
Simply looking to be a bit more comfy.I'm 6'3" just looking at options to stretch my legs out.

i bought a set along with the universal linkage for my 79 special. i love em, i made my own mounts though cause i didnt like the ones that come with it. if ya set it up right theres isnt alot of play. no more than the stock shifter does and brake pedal do any way. every time ive dealt with tc bros its been a good deal. you cant go wrong.

You missed the point:
'Especially when they start with ones in really nice shape to begin with. '
I don't care what people do with junkers, it's when they tear up really nice antiques that I shudder.
Other than that, if you want to make your bike loud, cumbersome, ugly, and the worst handling POS on the street, go for it.
One of the reasons I ride old bikes is because the factory hasn't designed any nice ones in the last 20 years.Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

They sure don't impress me much ether in the looks department. I would like to test ride a new V-Star Venture Royal. I would like more comfort for long trips, etc then the TimeMachine delivers.

Crazcnuk,
I'm with you on this one. It gives me the shivers to see someone start cutting and hackin' up a bike that is in better shape than the one I am trying to get running.. Weird
Same goes for parting out a bike because they need to have the carbs cleaned.
I know. I know. This has been talked about before. Just seems like one of these day the only bikes on the road will be a bunch of XS11's that are all cobbled together from parts of bikes that were in better condition from the start.
There, that should get it started.RIP Whiskers (Shop Boss) 25+yrs

Your feet don't fall off the pegs - even if the bottoms of your shoes are wet & slippery. The shape of the concave peg sends your foot down & to the side of the of peg near wear the linkage is & keeps it there. Your feet are still facing down to a certain extent & pressure from your foot is still a bit on the pegs. You legs aren't really all flat out so your foot can fall off. Your legs are still coming down onto the pegs quite abit, but your are still way more forward with the feet. I have rode with these many, many times in the rain & its fine. The knurled peg I imagine would be the same due to the 'still downward pressure" of your foot. - Dan'81 XS1100 LH - Midnight Special - been lookin' a long time for this one.

Pic of my TC Bros Forwards
I know this an old thread just thought in case of a 'search' I have a pic of my forwards showing the clutch side of the bike this is using there full length rod kit & leaving the front pegs still on. The other side of the bike is the same. I used the original shifter rod & brake rod just cut them with a hack saw & drilled them out to fit the rod bolt in. The pic is under the 'ride report" section under 'manitoulin ride" - Dan'81 XS1100 LH - Midnight Special - been lookin' a long time for this one.

If you want to voice your opinion thats fine but insulting people who happen to like the hardtail/bobber look isnt cool. Its their bike they paid for it so they can do whatever they please with it. Just because you dont like it dosent mean they are "twits". Variety makes things interesting and people who like hardtails should be able to share information too. I dont have a hardtail or intend to hardtail I just think you are rude for insulting people because they like a style of motorcycle.1978 xs1100E

And what do you call someone who calls others rude, while not understanding what the discussion is about?
Most of us don't care if you like the hacked, rat bike look or not.
The point is you don't come into an 'enthusiast' board for a given model and gloat about how you are going to destroy one w/o expecting some flack.
If you do, you're one of those 'twits' that thinks the mere fact you have an opinion means everyone else has to accept it, and no else is allowed to voice thiers.
I dare you to go to the Bugatti Veyron forum and tell them how you are going to put the car on a chevy 4x4 frame so you can go mudding.
A lot of these guys are downgrading better bikes than we own, after years of restoring them, while there are literally thousands of perfectly good bobber project bikes in wrecking yards everywhere.Nice day, if it doesn't rain...
