  • I Wanna Ride....Ride....Ride....!

    Hello Xsives,

As some of you may know, I live in the Vancouver, Wa. / Portland, Or. area of the PNW.

After many months lurkin', and yaakin' with various XS11list members of one group, or another, I have finally got my XS11 running, and rolling, after being stored since 1986.

Reviving my scoot has consumed about two years of my effort (I know, an XSive amount of time, and money!).....& now...... IT RUNS!

It runs well enuf ratnow, to get on it and ride somewhere, .....anywhere within reason.

As this is not a rally, and is off-topic, this forum seemed to be a proper place.

I still need to do some fine tuning on the carbs, but I need to ride somewhere ASAP!......

If anyone in this locality, or beyond, wants to meet and take a few hours ride that would be great!

Neither I, or my scoot, is really ready to make a long distance, or duration ride.....yet. That will come later......

Besides finally meeting other "Local PNW" XSives, I want to go for a shakedown ride, hopefully against other XS's, or XJ's to compare my own scoot's performance to.

I expect I will have to pull the carbs again for further refinement, and synch, later on.

I called David Browne in Portland a little while ago, remembering his previous posted request to go riding, and we thought we would meet, along with a friend of his, and take a few hours ride tomorrow, May 26.....

I realize that this is a little short on notice, and without any planning, but if there is anyone in within this area wants to meet-up, and ride with us, you would be very welcome!

Nothin really fast, or screamin', just some laid-back, twisty, back-road crusin'. Maybe stop for lunch somewhere.

If you are interested in joining us, no matter what you are ridin', Hog, Honda, or whatever......eMail me (XS11SOB@aol.com) for my phone # or, a meeting place.

If tomorrow won't work for ya, then let me know what would...... Occasionaly, I have time to ride during the week too.

    Regards,

I did not read this thread in time to make your 26th date. Hope you had a good ride. MY XS is gassed and pointed out the door. I will watch for your next ride date.

Red, I also saw this a little late.... but keep me posted. I am in Ocean Shores (Denny.. we need to get together ... it's only 75 miles!).... my carbs are done, the bike is hot, and it is time to ride.... (having a hard time keeping it under 70 for some reason)

i will be in vancouver the night of the 30th and day of 31st. (semi-business trip)....

      maybe evening of 30th?

I'm just south of you on I5, Tualatin to be exact. I'm up to my butt in bikes to fix at the moment but I'd love to take a ride with a fellow biker(s). Even if I can't make it, consider the following route.

My favorite ride in this area is to take the old Columbia gorge highway up to Crown Point then back to I84 east to Hood River, then up the North face of Mt. Hood then back to Portland by highway 26. Along the way you have to stop in Cascade Locks and have ice cream at the East Wind drive in.

This is about a 3 or 4 hour ride (depending on the length of your stops) and a great way to spend a day.

I'm not sure how to send you eMail from here. You can contact me at technojock@yahoo.com.

I'm up to my butt in bikes to fix and I have a buyer lined up for my 79 standard (not that I planned to sell it) and I need to tune it up so it's ready to go. I think I'll have my 80 special ready to ride by tomorrow.

OK... my exhausts r still leaking at the gaskets, it's runnin only on 3 cyls., the #2 not firing. I hope its only a dirty plug. That was the cyl. where I had to change the valves. The carbs need tuning too.
Im so fed up with wrenching the bitch, I just wanna ride....

I got to fixing the exhausts bout 3 times, but the first time a friend with a guzzi came and we had to fix up the forks on his bike, the second time came another guy with a MZ and its shot crank bearing, the third time was the guzzi guy again... at least he brought a case of beer To make things worse, that is my ex guzzi.

Anyway, the bitch gets one more chance, and if it doesn't work Im gonna shove it in the back and forget bout it till Im rich and bored. Till then I'm looking for a 76-93 guzzi.

If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.

Drop me a line if I can help with the diagnostics.

I know about those old Guzzis. I rode one for years. great bikes but expensive parts. I'm still looking for an engine for mine. I bid on eBay but it didn't hit reserve. The guy wanted $600 for just the engine. Too rich for my blood but I was tempted.
