  • Blessing of the bikes Baldwim, MI

I finished putting her back together Friday night before the blessing on sunday. I went for a ride and it was great, until about two blocks away all the lights died. put in a new fuse block Saturday morning and we were back in action minus blinkers that blink and brake lights. Whatever we headed up. When we got into town my headlight went out again I got some help from some guys and we ran a hot wire from the fuse to the light, BINGO! tried driving home and something drained the battery, I had to get a jump and set my iddle at about 2500rpm's just to stay running. At red lights people thought I was nuts, with no mufflers and thet high of rpm I sat next to them at about 120 decibals. a little while more down the road and the damn shifter kept coming loose. I knew the shifter was a problem but had actually not had it go out before on a trip. Somone before me put a double shifter on with a smooth innershaft (no splines) and a set screw. Well it gave and about every time I down shifted it came loose. buy this time I was hating the world and we were late getting home. All in all it was fun untill the ride home.

    Problem shifter.

Hey, I was at the blessing too. To bad we didn't run into each other. Our ride was a lot less eventful then yours, we didn't have any problems just a great day out riding with some friends. It was a little cold in the morning on the ride up but other then that a great day. If that was my shifter I'd take a little drill bit and drill a hole half way through the shaft for that set screw to go down into.

I am thinking about putting on a normal shifter and deal with it. That is a good idea, I am just not sure if I want to mess it up more than it is.

It was cold on the way up we stopped twice to warm up. The ride home was warm but not fun...
