  • new seat?

I am looking to redo the seat for my 79 and I want something with the most comfort possible without having a full on king and queen and retaining the clean lines of this bike , I have a guy who will make it however I want . Just trying to get some ideas

    Hi Garth,
it's not the seat's shape that makes it comfortable, it's what's inside it.
The ordinary upholstering foam you can find in handicraft shops is not the best answer for this.
Do a netsearch on "motorcycle seat foam". You are looking for a multi-layered foam that's especially made for motorcycle seats and for even more comfort have the seat maker put a layer of gelfoam on top of it.

DO NOT put the gel-pad on "top"!! It WILL RETAIN SOLAR HEAT and your time sitting WILL be short!! DAMHIK
Have him put a gel-pad under the top foam layer. The top foam should be about 1/4" to 1/2" thick.

        Hi Ray,
yeah, after I posted I checked out seat foam on the net and a seat maker said that too. OTOH, the saddleskins guys sell a gel pad that goes on top of your existing seat without even a seat cover between itself and your blue jeans.
