  • Problem with Photobucket

I've been out of touch for a while. SWMBO and I moved (more on this later,) and I inherited DiverRay's "old" computer, (more on this later.) But for now I want to limit this thread to a discussion of alternatives to Photo Bucket. Seems the SOB's dumped me. It had been a while since I had accessed the site, and now that I have some juicy photos of "The Dream Machines" event in Half Moon Bay, I can't share them with you because I've lost my Photo Bucket account! When I tried to set up a new account I got a message stating "You are ineligible for an account." No explanation for why. I sent an e-mail asking for an explanation and the response was a repeat of the original message. I think they are dick-heads.
So what are the alternatives? I'm sure there must be other photo sharing sites.
How about Face Book or MySpace which all the younger folk are into? Can these be used to share photos? What about a Geocities website? I’m sure there must be alternatives that I’m not even aware of and I want to hear them.

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
    I've been riding since 1959.

Look at FLikr. Never used it but I have seen it linked to before.

Maybe your pictures were a little too juicey?

I don't know what their policies are, but I have ignored my account for months at a time with no problems(knock on head).

It may be that you stayed off long enough for the account to become innactive... but that same exact account name may not be available again to use. Maybe try something close.. with a couple numbers afterwards like the year you were born or something and try again.

I understand your frustration at them and not wanting to use them, but they are pretty convenient. What scares me about them is I probably have hundreds of pics in there... and just wondering how long until this becomes a pay site where I'll HAVE to pay until I can get all those pics back.. which would cause little red Xs in all the past pics I have posted. (Not that that really matters much probably..)

You can live to be 100, as long as you give up everything that would make you want to live to be 100!

I have frequent boughts with them also. They have not dropped me but about once or twice a month my password does not work and I can't get in. No, I didn't forget it, it is super simple and pasted on the wall right above the computer. They just all of a sudden say that it is incorrect and won't let me in for a day or two. This is irritating so I am looking for something else also.

If there are more than three bolts holding it on there, it is most likely a very important part!
