  • Brake cylinder seals

Is this the proper part number for the brake cylinder rebuild seals for the SF front and back? The number is from Mike's Xs.

    Part #29-0016

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Latexeses,

I can say that the part # you have IS for the REAR caliper, both 650 and XS11, standard or special, because they used the same caliper for that application.

However, I can NOT say it'll work for the front. Yamaha gave their rebuild kit a different prefix, 2G2 instead of 1J3, and they do that WHEN it's not the same exact part, size, etc.! Both have the same suffix, W0037.

The Special's front calipers are different, different sized/depth piston, don't know if they are the same diameter,
but I can't say for certain that the kit for the rear will work for the front??

Partsnmore has a dual caliper front Special rebuild kit listed, #29-0034 IIRC!?

      Thanks TC,
That is information I better log down somewhere. It'll probably come back around.
I think I'll start a book on crossover numbers and their sources, for XS1100 Bike parts.
Are there so many more XS650's around because production was so much higher?
I have no idea how many were built but it seems odd that I think I have seen maybe one 650 in I can't count how many years but I still see the occasional 1100.
Oh well, better start that book....

      Thanks again TC,

        Hi Rodger,
they must have cranked out a whole scad of XS650s, the bike was in production for at least 14 years vs 4 years for the XS11.

Wow, I really didn't know they were around that long.

Must not be anywhere near 14 years worth of roadworthy 650's out there.

I suspect the reason I don't see many of them is because there isn't much of a XS650.com website out there.

          Thanks for the enlightenment.

              Just a bit obscure.

Really glad to own a XS100!
