  • Another new guy

    Hello,
I have been looking at this site for a long time and finally decided to become an active participant.

I purchased my first XS-11 Special in 1979, a red one. Hard times forced a sale. After that, I bought the same bike back 2 times. Since then I have owned 6 others. Last week I went to Kansas City and bought another red 79 Special. I just can't kick the habit.

I live in SE Ok. and yesterday when I was in town, I passed the local Denny's and there were 2 XS=11's and a Maxim. I wanted to go inside and talk to the riders but did not have the time. All 3 bikes had Texas plates so, some of you probably know these guys.

Anyway, I look forward to watching the website and perhaps meeting some of you folks on the road.

My motto: Ride hard or stay home.

    Happy "scootin"

      Greetings and Welcome.

      Let me say HI.
Sounds as though you might be a bit up the learning curve on XS's. Get your stick in the pot and start stirring.
      Again, Welcome.

              Thanks for the welcome

Thanks to all of you that posted a hearty "Welcome". It really is great to know this site is here for a ton of information and that you guys are as adament about bikes as a lot of us.

I will have to take some time to dig through the pix. I lost several when my computer crashed a few years ago but still have a few.

As a second hobby, my wife and I are into vintage VW's. I have a 66 Bug and she has a 79 Bus that we recently picked up in Dallas.

Anyway, thanks again for the warm welcome. I look forward to more communication and rallies.

                Howdy

Welcome to channel 11. Pull up a chair, grab a cold one, smoke 'em if ya got 'em. Lotta smart folks here, and then there is me. I understand the addiction. Have one running, one in process, and one for parts. And I still peruse craigslist and evilbay. Just trying to crunch the numbers to see if I can afford another (and a divorce if I buy it)!

This hobby can be expensive, but divorce is priceless!

                        location

I live in Frowder, 15 miles north of McAlester or 12 miles south of Eufaula.

I plan on doing a lot of riding this year and put my car hobby on hold.

Acouple of years ago I lived in the Atlanta area and rode from Atl. to Heavener in one day. Not the Iron Butt, but a lot of fun anyway.

Look forward to riding with some folks. I am about 75 miles from the Talimena Drive and other great roads.

If anyone wants to join me one day, just give a shout.

                        Thanks for the welcome.

                        Jack

It might very well have been us that you saw...
We were at Western Sizzlin though... not Dennys... but small chance that there were two XSes with an XJ around that area at the same time...

ANYway... looking forward to a couple of trips to Talimena this year as well... maybe we can meet up and ride out...

Check out the South Central rallies section for info on the Meeting of the Minds at our place in Hurst, TX next month and upcoming info for the Talimena rally in October...
