I would recommend that everybody needs to wear earplugs when they are around loud noisemakers (small children and yapping dogs included).
    And ex-spouses

Ear plugs are good. Box of 80 = $12 at the local bandit lumber yard. Wind noise is bad, wearing a full-face behind a Pacifico. I can still hear all the machine noise I need to attend to, as well as sirens, horns, etc. Certainly reduces fatigue. No full-face helmet will muffle wind noise sound, some make it worse. Protect your hearing.

I just started riding this year, I never heard about hear plugs untill i took a saftey coarse, The more experianced riders stated once you were them you will wonder why you never did before. I actutally started wearing my IPOD so i could listen to tunes as well, But i found out this weekend it is ileagel. In Ontario!.

My 1100 is a loud bike, but doesn't seem too much ie I notice no problems. I always have a helmet and I think this reduces the noise. I am most comfortable when I can hear and feel my bike for any thing not normal.

Put a fairing on it and you will hear a lot more. It acts like a megaphone right up to your ears.

I agree. I get very little wind noise at all with my full-face, but my bike is rather loud now that I have the fairing. I guess its about equal to the wind noise I once had without the fairing though.

Yes, but if there is a hint of a bad engine noise you will hear it right away. I can see several good things about that.
