  • Finally arrived in NC...

Actually got here about the 25th of April and the beginning of the Merle Fest, a popular Bluegrass festival. Beautiful here ... rented a room in a house on a lake from a nice English lady who also owns a botique in Wilkesboro.

Household goods and more importantly, the bikes, arrived in the UPS trailer safely with only slight damage to one tank caused while loading ... PopsaDent will fix it easy. Thanks to everyone with their advice about the trailer too. The red G rode without incident nicely behind the Cherokee ... cuised easily at 70 on the Interstate. That damn Jeep is a great vehicle .... made that tow without a strain or sputter. I'll try to post up some pics when I find my camera cable ... already talked to an NC excessive too ... have done some riding as well ... dusted a few Hogs .... its funny ... they pull alongside and rev their motors ... all this noise and backfiring ... lol. Showed 'em tail lights and tail pipes .... they honk and wave when I'd let 'em catch up ... all in good fun ... they seem to enjoy it. I think the older Harley guys know what we got and just enjoy seein' it perform ... that's my theory...

Thx, DS ... lota people here provided reilable knowledge that I don't know how I could have gotten in some other way.

Garth ... you've been lazy ... do I have to get out there and fire you up?

Scott ... sadly, I didn't make the Merle this year ... it's a forgone conclusion in the future though. Landlady's son and his buddy ... all of age 19 ... are prodigious mandolin and guitar players ... and either can play either equally well .... I was blown away ... I'm trying to get my hands back in shape after a couple of years of too much wrenchin' and not enough music ... it'll happen ... I'll make it.

Hey Wiz are you relocated to NC? I am thinking about doing the same...to Raleigh-Durham area. What part are you in? Hoping to sell house and with that money come down there and buy another home, and find work in the Raleigh area. If you were coming from Calif. I guess it wouldn't too hard to figure out what made you move...LOL....being here in NJ property taxes are some of the highest in the country and employment isnt that great either. Good luck and if I come down ..I'll look you up

                Yup, Bennie ..

I'm here now ... western part of the state. They call it the 'foothills' 'round these parts . The mountains being Boone, Ashville, etc ... it's cheap over here to live .... was drivin home from the g/fs last eve around 7:30p and there were almost NO cars on the road .... FRIDAY EVENING ... imagine that ?? ... awesome in my book .... all the Bozos are on the roads in Cal on Friday eveings .... tryng to get who knows where and do it in a HURRY too ..... was the worst time to be out on a bike.

There's a B&B here in this house where I live on the lake. Round up SWMBO and bring her down for a look-see!!

I'm kinda' just jokin' about the beer joints ..

lol. There does seem to be a shortage of 'em out here though, but I do understand why, BBBrd. Not the most improtant thing really.

I live just a few hundred yards off the 268 on the South side of the KerrScott reservoir in Wilkes county ... the fire department around the corner says on it "Goshen" ... hmmm

I have one 79 Std that I would sell for $1000 ... and a 79 Special for $1500 ... I have done extensive work to both of them but there are still small things left on 'em yet to do. New owner's gonna' wanna' do something, right?
