For any who care, and own a faded bike (or car) My SG there was really faded. We sanded it for about 10 minutes with 500grit and clear coated it.

That's it. It shone right up, and you can see the factory red sparkle from 5-10ft away, in the sun.

      More Pics?

Hey Craz, Got any before and after pics of your bike? I would have been a little nervous of breaking through the old clear with 500 grit. Rick

Well, the tank had some of the clear burnt off, right below and slightly right of the gas tank. A patch about 5 inches long and 4 inches wide.

It was whitish along that edge, where the clear had been peeling off to.

We sanded it to try and get rid of any loose scale then clear coated it using Dupont Chroma base clear. (derwat had a little left over after he finished clear coating his new paint)

The sanding didn't really phase the clear at all. The clear is really hard.

If you look really closely, you can see where the edge is, through the clear, but unless your looking hard, and you knew what to look for you can barely see it.

        Before:

The sidecovers were done with Duplicolor touch up paint and clear.
