I pulled into the huge Harley store parking lot on the NH seacoast a couple of weeks ago with my SH. Man, did I feel like a fish out of water.
I was only there to look for a helmet for my son but every one of them either had a skull or "Harley" written across them.

Don - Couldn't help but notice on the video that they put you in the back row. Of course that position is subject to change as soon as you're out on the road. I've got a Harley Dealership down the road from me, and on friday nights they have "Bike Night" - Bikes, beer, burgers and a band - all four food groups. I like taking Betsy up there amongst all the chrome. When I leave the place the road I take has me driving right past the festivities. I can never seem to exercise any self control at that moment and always give the throttle a good twist right there. I wouldn't want all those Harley riders thinking that motorcycles are supposed to run like theirs do
.
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

My neighbor lady, divorced and a grandmother, has a '57 pan head that she rebuilt this last winter. Many of her Harley-riding friends come over on weekends...usually 4 - 6 bikes, sometimes more. I get a kick out of them. You can tell the bikes are never ridden far, but they brag of their rides. Honest, the other night the lady (Laura) was bragging on how she has put almost 500 miles on her bike this year so far, more than most of her friends. I put that much on in a good week, mostly because my daily commute is 112 miles.
Lots of posing, not much riding.Jerry Fields

I used to get a kick out of a Harley commercial that had black sheep running away from flocks of white sheep (because their individuality was threatened) and gathering together in a town....until they were once again (so ironic)...you guessed it...a flock.
That commercial mirrrored perfectly the whole Harley thing....when millions of people buy into one vision of "individuality" it's hardly individual any more (but it sure sells a lot of chrome!).Guy

Funny how times have changed.
Back in '69, I wanted to be different so I saved up all my farm wages and bought a '64 sportster. Rode it (and wrenched it) until 1980. I guess I was lucky. I rode with other scooter tramps who figured it didn't matter what was between your legs, as long as you were in the wind. I watched this change over the years as more and more people started riding. One of the reasons I passed on my harley is that the attitude of harley riders become more about image than riding. Less tolerance for other brands, rather than being part of a great sport. Sigh.
I ride with two of my best friends now. One has a 08 Dyna, the other has a 80 Honda CB900C ( a quirky ride the 10 speed tranny). We let whoever has a road plan in mind lead. Simple enough.
The one thing I watched out for when I first came in here was to see how much brand bashing goes on. And I was pleasantly surprised how little there is.
I guess after almost 40 years hanging around on two wheel, I can still stay balanced.Lee aka trainzz
I am my inner child!!
I have no idea how you managed to make that connection within your brain, but I applaud whatever cellular mutation just took place.
