  • helped out an airhead last night

So I went out to the store last night to get some supplies and when I got home there was a guy parked across the street messing around with his bike , he has a used rs1100 bmw , it wouldn"t start e said he got water in the tank when he washed it and like a typicall bmw owner he had no idea on what to do and discharged his battery trying to start it . I told him he should drain his tank and refill with fresh gas and recharge his battery , he didnt want to do this even though I offered him a gas can and the use of my battery charger . he just wanted help moving his bike , so I helped him push his bike 2 blocks away where he had his storage unit and we parked it there . Any way I did my good deed for the day in hopes that I ever break down somewheres on the road some other kind motorcylist would lend a hand too

He didn't have to drain the gas, just the water!

Water is heavier than gas so it sits right at the bottom. You just take off your fuel line at the petock, open the petcock and drain a cup or so, into a clear container so you can tell when your getting just gas.

You would have to drain the float bowls, too, but also easy, for ours.

Basically, you would have to open the gascap to get that much water in there. If you think about it, you'd have to get about a gallon of water in, to fill all 4 float bowls, if your not on reserve! Water would just displace the reserve gas until it got high enough to go in with the regular fuel.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

      Sounds Suspicious

      Maybe it was stolen.

Even for us XSives that's ride it like you stole it, not ride in when you've stole it. (sorry for the bad grammer but it didn't work with proper grammer)

Maybe he thought it was a good idea to wash the inside of the tank while he was at it.

Sounds more like water in the electrics then in the tank.
