  • Ultra cheap battery tender

Harbor Freight has their battery tender on sale for $4.99. For that price I thought it was worth a post. Here's a link - Automatic Float Charger

    Don't Do It!

I bought one of those last fall to keep my battery going over the winter season. I stored the battery in my basement shop, warm and dry. When I tested it this spring, the voltage was at 11.03 vdc. I had to charge it with a 2 amp standard charger to get my bike going. I think they are a ripoff.

Could explain the $4.99 price. I know they're not designed to charge - just maintain a state of charge. What was the condition of the battery before you stored it?

That's why I got the one from wally mart. It works good, will charge at up to 2 amps and will do the maintain thing. They work on both bikes and cars, and come with the pigtail to leave on the bat terminals and the first one (I have two of them now) also came with a cigarette lighter adapter that I use on the cars. Had to have two though because I have two bikes and when they are sitting I keep them both hooked up so the charge stays topped off.
