I was in the local hardware store today when a lady came up and aked if I worked there. When I said no, she said "would that be your Midnight Special out front"? Fearing she was going to tell me she had just hit it, I said "yes. " "My husband is outside by your bike and he has one just like it"
Wow!! what do you know, I kind of live out here in the dticks and have never seen another 11 that I could verify. Once I saw a Midnight on a trailer, but it was an 850.
Anyhow, he lives in Va and has a house near here. We chatted a while and I pointed him to channel 11 and gave him my contact info. He's going to call if he rides it down here!!

I hope that you hear from him soon. Through my experiences, meeting another person that rides a late 70's early '80 bike of the same MAKE is rare. Let alone the same size.

I hope to see him here on the web soon.

I met a guy outside an Ace Hardware last summer who was big into 11's. I was standing there getting ready to ride, and he came up to me and said "that's a nice looking XS 11". I was surprised 'cause at the time it didn't have any badges on it. He had an XS graveyard on his property, I bought a 750 FD from him, and was seeing him fairly regularly for parts. I picked up the paper a few weeks ago, and there was his picture on the front page. Turned out XS parts weren't the only thing he was selling - he was busted for running a big meth lab. You just never know...
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

Some guy rolled up yesterday afternoon right as I was getting ready to make a parts run, he was riding an old chopped inline 4, all primer black straight pipes, drag bars, whitewall tires, really nice looking bike, I didn't have a chance to really talk with him and get a good look at his bike though

A couple of years ago, my son and I were out on the bike and we were heading to the local hardware store, and just as I was pulling in the parking lot I see a guy on another bike pulling out. I couldn't tell what he was on at the time, but I heard him say "Nice bike!" Well, I looked harder and could tell it was an XS11 standard. I yelled Thanks and turned my attention back to the parking lot. I parked the bike and we were dismounting, when I see the other XSer pulling up behind us. He asked if I was aware that there was going to be an XS11 gathering called the Meeting of the Minds, and it was gong to be held in Hurst (my town). I had to laugh and tell him that the gathering was at my house and it was my wife, Wildkat, that had organized it. It turned out he lived in a neighboring town of Colleyville, and that he was the father of our own Hobbyman. His name is Phil and I believe he is a member also. Turns out he is a pilot for AA (the airline, my employer), so I kinda hung the nickname of Phil the Phlyer on him. Anyhow, he and Hobbyman attended the 1st Annual MoM. They have six XS11's between them now, but Hobbyman is away playing sailor, and his dad is away playing pilot, so I haven't seen his dad in a long time. He flys overseas routes.

Another time was when Kat and I were at one of the local car shows when we noticed a Special that looked very much like mine. We parked next to it, checked it out, and went to look at the cars, but we kept an eye on the bikes, hoping to see the owner at his bike. Well, it happened that we were all parked in the wrong place, and the MC of the event called over the PA that the bikes had to be moved. That gave us the chance to meet the owner. He lives in an neighboring town called Euless. I turned him on to the site, and he joined. His handle is BruceJ. He's been by the house to have a little work done.
I think those are the only accidental meetings we've had with other XSers.
