    Thanks Crazcnuk

Right you are.I was using the wrong terms. Are the idle mixture screws part of the pilot circuit?Or am I mistaken about that as well?

    Thanks again Terry

Thanks terry ... Springs is what I would like to have the most as these 1100 engine are know for floating valves in the upper RPM range.

        Hey Terry,

Don't mind Cnuk, he's probably still a bit grumpy about the weather!?

We call them Idle mixture screws, OR..Pilot SCREWS, just not Pilots alone, lest they be confused with the Pilot JETS. Yes, they control the PILOT or IDLE circuit. And of course we have to be careful not to get them confused with the SYNCH screws, a recent nube did that accidentally because he couldn't see the MAIN Idle thumbscrew behind the bank of carbs.

Hey Crazcnuk, I think he is going by some of the literature (and some of the threads and or tech tips on XS11) that often refer to that as the "Pilot Idle Screw" or "starter jet screw". There is more terms for that screw than there are for bigfoot. And now I see TC got here first....as usual..lol

Heh it's all part of the learning curve, with a bit of standardization thrown in.

Personally, I consider the idle circuit, pilot circuit and mains as 3 different things since they do 3 different jobs.

I've never heard the idle mixture screws referred to as pilot screws.

Actually the pilot and idle circuits are the same thing
these consist of the pilot jet, air jet, mixture screw and the 3 little holes at the bottom of the butterfly which supplies the off idle fuel.
Midrange circuit, consists of the emulsion tube, slide needle, and a fixed air jet at the back of the carb.
Mains are supplied by the main jet.
The choke also has its own 'circuit'.
Theres a really good coloured diagram on here somewhere that shows all the circuits.
