  • Playoffs!

    Hi all,
Was just wanting to know if there are any hockey fans here at channel 11. The season is just about done and the contenders for the playoffs are all in, just the order of the last few seeds to be decided. My favorite team the Flyers are in but have looked a little week in the last few games. I hope they are not a one and done this year.
So lets open this up for the NHL playoffs discussion.!!!

    Go Flyers

My team of losers (Edmonton) is already out, for the 3rd year in a row, so the season is done.

I could watch Calgary, but they are a waste of playoff spot, no matter where they finish.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

My season is over too! Too little too late for the Sens this year. I doubt I'll watch much of the playoffs, especially if the weather turns nice, it's been a long winter.

        Die Hard

My leafs are out for the fourth year in a row but things are definitely looking up. Lots of talented rookies and good leadership.
This is a great time of year if you are a true fan of the game. Two games a night every night drives my wife insane. This is when you get to see just how talented these guys are.
My guess it will be a western conference team that will be hoisting the cup. Fast and tough, Of course injuries and goaltending determine a lot.

I used to follow the "Blues" when I was young (5-10) I was living fairly close to St. Louis at the time (for those of you from the area, I lived on Scott AFB) and when we moved to Ohio, there was no hockey to be found, none on the tube, no local coverage, so I kind of forgot about it. then, in '93, when I met SWMBO, I found out she lived in Detroit for a while and Fox was getting into hockey coverage, so we'd watch the Red Wings when they were on the tube and I've been following them ever since. so, last I checked the standings, my defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings had pretty much locked up the number one seed in the western conference. So, either they will repeat as champs or they will get swept in the first round, thee doesn't seem to be any middle ground for them.....GO WINGS!! have a nice day and ride safe

After 19 years of waitingfor thier rebuild, I now tune into Edmonton to make fun of them.

That way if they accidentally win a game, I am pleasantly surprised.

We will likely never win another SC, except by fluke, because real talent doesn't want to live in Edmonton. Salary caps is only half the battle. Less desirable cities no need remote living bonuses.

Life long Bruins fan here so I wouldn't mind seeing them end their drought. Maybe Boston Unniversity winning the NCAA Hockey Championship last night will rub off. Did anyone watch that? BU pulled their goalie down 3-1 in the last minute and a half and scored two goals to tie it, then went on to win in OT over Miami, OH.

                  Flyers-Penns

Well the Penguines defeated Montreal last nite so the Flyers and Penns will face off in the first round. Only the home ice advantage to be decided during todays Flyers Rangers game. I really do not think the Flyers will get to far this year so I may look to follow Boston if the flyers should fall in the first round. I could never see myself pulling for the Devils I just cant stand that team.

Yes Big Daddy Funk, I think the leafs have done a tremendus job in rebuilding and should be back as a major force in the NHL again next year. I think Ron Wilson is a great coach and will get the most from the teams young talent.

I HATE the Flyers!! I HATE the Flyers!! I HATE the Flyers!! I HATE the Flyers!! I HATE the Flyers!! I HATE the Flyers!! I HATE the Flyers!!

This just in: I HATE the Rangers!! I HATE the Rangers!! I HATE the Rangers!! I HATE the Rangers!! I HATE the Rangers!! I HATE the Rangers!!

I'm a big Devils fan personally. Went to the game yesterday. I dunno if it was a good idea for my boys to beat the 'Canes. Now we have to play them in the playoffs. The last 2 times the Devils played Carolina in the playoffs, the Devs lost. The Devils looked like the team to beat in the east after Brodeur came back. Then came 7 game losing streak. I'm nervous about the 1st round.

Oh, I almost forgot. I HATE the Hurricanes!! I HATE the Hurricanes!! I HATE the Hurricanes!! I HATE the Hurricanes!! I HATE the Hurricanes!!

                      Feeling a little tense?

Hey 65oldsboy, Don't be afraid to tell us how you really feel about the Rangers, Flyers and Hurricanes.
And don't be nervous about your goaltender. He is a big game netminder. He will give his team the chance to win. That's what he always does. There is not another team in the playoffs who would not swap goaltenders with the Devils today if given the chance. Good luck to you and your team. Rick

                        blew it

Wow, the Flyers blew it against the Rangers and handed over the home ice advantage to Pittsburgh. Flyers poor goal tending and defense will cost them.

Here are the Eastern conference matchups.
                        New York Rangers and Washington
                        Philadelphia and Pittsburgh
                        Carolina at New Jersey
                        Montreal at Boston

I see the Rangers, Pittsburgh, New Jersey and Boston all winning the first round. Don’t worry about NJ, Brodeur will win at least one round by himself. Big Daddy Funk is correct, every team wishes they had Brodeur as their net minder.

Brodeur has played better the last few games, as has the rest of the team. I just hated to see that losing streak almost right at the end of the regular season. Jersey won 4 out of their last 5 though. In the Devils' last win of the season, Carolina didn't play their starting goalie (Ward). The Devs lost the other 3 games against Carolina. They seem to have our number. Having home ice advantage should help. I just got my tickets for game 2 on Friday. I'll take the Devils in 6.

I think that Montreal will go down hard against Boston. Washington will take care of the Rangers. Lundqvist will keep them in most of the games but NY doesn't have the goal-scoring to keep up with the Caps. I think Pitt/Philly is close to being a toss-up. Having home ice would push me to take the Pens.

                          GO DEVILS!!!

Been a Redwings fan since the Olympia Stadium days.

Lorax, unfortunately the Sharks earned the top spot in the West this year!
Looks to me like the Wings and Sharks battling in the Western Conference Finals, with the winner going on to take the Cup.

Which probably means that one of them will be eliminated prior to the Conference Finals, and the Eastern Finals winner will win the Cup!

Good thing I'm not a gambler. Enjoy the playoffs at any rate. Mike

I don't get to watch that many Western Conference games. It's tough going to bed at 1am and getting up at 6:00. But I'll be doing it starting tomorrow through the end of the playoffs. I think the Ducks can awaken and beat San Jose. I don't have any confidence in the Sharks. They always blow it in the playoffs. Columbus and St. Louis are just happy to have made the playoffs and will fall to Detroit and Vancouver. Chicago should be able to score enough goals to put away Calgary...providing that Kiprusoff doesn't get hot. (I think he played too many games this year and won't be able to hold up in the playoffs.)
