Born in '52 I was ...I started driving in '69. I learned and drove to highschool in my parent's '61 Lincoln Continental with suicide rear doors....5000 lbs or real metal and doors so thick and heavy you felt like you were in a bank vault. Cant remember how many cu in the engine was but it had a big 4 bbl carb on it and when you stomped into overdrive the thrust was enough to push you back into the seat! In '69 gas in Tucson Az was 18.9 cents per gallon and you could run all week on 10 bucks. In '70 I finally bought my first car...it was a '64 Chevy Impala SS with a 327 cu in V8...what fun that was...wish I still had it now...ah yes the good 'ol days...
BTW that was a great video and nostalgic flashback Thanks!

Nice link. In those days, you could tell what brand / model a car was without having to look at the badges. Some nice iron; wonder if most of it is sitting in garages some where? I still dream of building a T-Bucket!

I am an old **** here I think. I drove a '48 Pontiac silver streak and a 50 Merc with suiside doors b/4 I went into the service. The old cars were wonderful, heavy and not and I repeat Not like the cars we drive today! I wish I had them both now, but don't wish I could drive such beasts at hiway speeds today!
