  • Wooo Hooo - Back to work

Two months to the day of breaking me leg the doc says I can go back to work - for 3 hours a day to see if I can cope. Tell ya what - After 2 months of sittin on my butt doing sweet FA I'm ready to walk on my hands to go back to work, for a damn site more than 3 freaken hours a day.

My wifes sick of me, the cat hates me, I can do a sub 4 minute mile round my house on crutches, I'm ready to be outta here.

On the bright side, at least it's only for the first 2 weeks and then I can go back full time (if I can cope) Whats the worst that can happen?, I fall off my chair and break the other one?.... Well.. I did fall off my bike at 25mph..... Nah, couldnt happen...?? Oh, well at least I'm back at work and the wife can learn to love me again. The cat I don't care about. Stupid animals anyway.

kudos! Good attitude. Besides I've found cats either will or won't like you regardless of what you may do or say.

      Congrats Brian!

I remember that feeling myself. 20 years ago I went off a bike and fractured my right elbow and got 10 stiches in my left knee. No crutches due to elbow, so wheelchair. I never underestimate how tough it is to get around in one of those things anymore. Getting back to full time working is like a vacation after that long.

As to the cat, well, you have one so its your own dang fault. Very few cats I have ever liked in this world, and none are on four paws.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

        Hi Brian,
it's not that your wife stopped loving you, shes just fed up with you hanging round the house all day.
And the cat never did love you, or anyone else for that matter. You are just an in-house device for opening cat food cans.

          Congrats Brian,

Well, I can sure relate. The last day I worked was in April of 2006.

Pinhead here took a Black Hawk helicopter over the legs. I've been getting excited over different ideas of what I could do for work. Then I tell Worker's Comp and they say, "Oh, you shouldn't do that with your legs..."

Enjoy getting your life back! At least you can feel like you are productive again.

Thanks for putting that in perspective for me, two months is nothing compared to 3 years. My grandmother told me once when i was 10, just after my mothers funeral, that no matter how bad your'e feeling theres always someone worse off. Was no comfort at all at the time, but I guess she was right.

2 years ago my son took a nose dive over the bars of his trail bike onto the bonnet of a car. Broke both his femurs and messed up his right hip. Took a while but he got back to work too, so theres hope for you too man.

            Never look back, only forward.

Your grandmother was obviously a very wise woman.

In my accident my leg was crushed and degloved from the ankle to the knee. The device on the landing gear, a cutting tool mounted in case the aircraft runs into powerlines, took almost everything off the lower leg, then went through the back of my knee and came out the front.

I spent two months in an ICU, 13 surgeries to rebuild the leg. I tell you this to give you an idea of the extreme pain I was in the whole time. Yet the way I managed to get through it was seeing all those Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen in hospitals like Walter Reed, etc, and somehow I knew they had it worse....but they didn't quit.

Like I said, your grandmother was 100% correct.

Best of luck to you, Sir,

Glad to hear you're back to work. Hopefully you had disability insurance to get you through financially.

My wife is sick of me too....ALL of the time. I knew marriage was until death do you part. I just never expected to live this long.

The only cat I ever met that I did like came with fried rice.

                      Congrats, Amigo

Being laid up is the pits.

As to the spousal unit hating you, let me add this thought (not original).
When I said until death do us part, I didn't know I was setting a goal .

As for the cat, he hated you before, during, and will continue to do so forever. He can't help it, it is just his nature to be surly and spiteful. SWMBO's cat used to tinkle on my side of the bed only. I sure am glad he adjust to being an outside cat. And the concussion he sustained when I launched him into the back yard seems to be much better now .

I have no idea how you managed to make that connection within your brain, but I applaud whatever cellular mutation just took place.

Ain't that the truth. I just got released back to work after 2 weeks in bed because of a retinal tear. Not only couldn't work, but couldn't even get outa bed other than to eat or eliminate, no reading, no TV, no computer (I cheated a little). Let me tell you, laser surgery on the retina HURTS!!!!! Dr said I can do normal activity, although no vigorous activity, but I'm not telling him I ride, but I'll stick to the mild stuff until my followup in 5 weeks.
