  • decisions decisions. . .

Well i can either make it to meeting of the minds and then go on up to Missouri for my Fourth of July vacation or I can try to squeeze out a bit of extra time to make the Bob Jones memorial ride. Help me decide you wizards of yamamahaminas! The MOTM would be easier on my schedule, basically what I'm looking for is "this one is better because. . . . and you should go to it" Thanks everyone!

Well... Basically, it's really two different things. The Bob Jones rally is going to be a lot of riding with a little visiting.. the MOTM is going to be a lot of visiting, with a little riding.

So YOU will need to decide what you are looking for. And of course.. if you can swing making both.. that's definately going to be the best option! lol. But seeing as how the Bob Jones thing is in the beginning of May, MOTM 5 weeks later, and the 4th of July that you mentioned is... well.. NOT in June... Not quite understanding the time thing.

      Tod,
I think it's a "leave" thing. You only get "X" number of days per year leave, and after that, your stuck "on Base".
I would have to vote for the MOTM, as John and KAt are GREAT people, and it would be a LOT of fun. The ride is something I would like to make, but being gainfully unemployed that's NOT going to happen this year.
I don't know what your duty schedule is like, but you MIGHT be able to make the ride to Texas with only two day's of leave, and save some time for other things?

What's happening is I already am planning on taking leave from 23 June to 6 July. It'd just extend my preplanned leave to take off from 18 June to 6 July. Doing that would give me a LONG time off for R&R rather than just a 3 day weekend in May then my two weeks in June/July. Doing the math i should have the leave I need to make the MOTM with no problems.

I should say my biggest problem is getting SWMBO to let me go play for a weekend with a bunch of crazy bikers. She "knows how them people are" she's a pain I may be allowed if I bring my son, dunno. . .

Once she meets me, you'll never be allowed out of the house!

Seriously though, which ever you decide to go on, I'll ride with you. If MotM, Probably with the KC crew too. If the Bob Jones rally, you might get the pleasure of trying desperately to keep up with Tod, if we can catch him in Tulsa or there about. Catch him being the operative word.

Yup... pretty rowdy and rough biker crew here...

Feel free to bring him if you want. This is definately a family friendly gathering... but also John and Kat's deal and may be speaking out of turn here.. lol (As usual)

P.S. To take one day of leave to come to Arkansas also, will probably be worth your time.

                    update

I've just done the math, I should have exactly enough days off to be able to go to both! I'm going to ask for leave on 8-10 May and also June 18-July 6. The only thing that may keep me from going now is if I can't get the leave. I already have tentative approval for June 23-July 6 so extending that shouldn't be a big deal.

Crazy? Is that the definition of a bunch of people that ride 30+ year old bikes cross country, just to work on 'em? Then that would be us. If your kinda new to the XS11, the M.O.M. can be really good learning experience. You learn how to work on the bike and who to stay away from.

I have been accused of more than just my fairing being full. IIRC, the FJ is sporting at least a half fairing, so what does that mean? Do we dare even mention the Bag Lady here?

It means that my fancy piece of yard art is aerodynamic... not that it matters... it's yard art... wait... make that... garage art... It doesn't make it into the yard anymore than it makes it down the street...
