Were you really paying homage to Kat, or praying to Ralph? Maybe both? Perhaps a couple of Fosters too many? I have made those very same noises many times before, only I wasn't wishing someone a happy birthday.

On a side note...would another chroming of the headers help prevent bluing? Any idea on what that may cost? She has the same system on her bike now, and they really haven't blued, but there is a slight hint of gold showing at the first bend by the head. Possibly a 1/4-1/2 turn out of the pilots screws?

I thought the consensus on here was that it was a factor of the single walled headers vs. OEM's double walled that was a major contributor to discoloration, either blueing or golding. I think you'll find extra chroming may not do much for them, and be quite expensive. You said that it already has a set just like them with just a touch of gold, so sounds like it's tuned well. The Jet Hot coating folks promote a nice silver colored finish, not as shiny as chrome, but close. And as I stated, a member gave a good review of the effectiveness of the high temp paint on the INSIDE of the header helping to insulate it and allowing the hot gasses to pass thru to the rest of the pipe and mufflers without building up so much heat at the bend, keeping the discoloration affect to a minimum.

So I'm running late as always but, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Also on the header coating thing, your chrome plating is only 0.0030 to 0.0098 in thick. If you're not familiar with those small measurements 0.0030 is the thickness of a hair or a piece of paper. Not enough to do any good IMHO. I would try the professional ceramic coating. (Sorry for the hijack/overelaboration!)

I don't really want to go with the chrome especially after what you had to say... Kind of pricey and I don't see a point in putting it over new pipes... maybe my old pipes... nahhhhh
