Got a pair of Olympia Ranger ll armored textile pants..never a problem riding my ST1100. But the seat on my Maxim is just plain nuts. I had the seat reworked and refoamed so that I can sit more planted in one spot with much better comfort. Problem is wearing the riding pants on this seat has me slipping and sliding constantly...wether accelerarting and especially braking...or if I hit bump in the road.It feels like I am sliding on ice or grease...so for now my solution is to wear blue jeans,as they do not slide me around. I know there are a number of solutions to fix this and allow me to use ATGATT...just a matter of how much $$$...

Velcroe?
Just ask the silverback why you wouldn't want to accidentally wear velcro shorts inside out..

Velcro...thats a knee slapper..LOL The expensive route would be to have the seat recovererd. There are materials and surfaces that will keep you seated where you want to be...prolly few hundred $$
The least expensive would be to just wear blue jeans..this works but I give up the waterproofing of the Ranger 2s'not to mention the armor.
I wonder about those sheepskin butt pads things ?1980 XS650G Special-Two

Denim interface
Hi MadMax,
it looks like denim is your answer.
Either sew yourself a denim slipcover for the bike seat
or get a pair of jeans that fit over your cordura pants.
Cut offs, even?

I think you should just get a pair of leather chaps and ride with those.. and nothing underneath them. (Just not anywhere around here, please) It would help the posterior get a better grip in those "Pucker" moments. I would suggest only crashing face first though..

Tod
is Tod right? Will skin grip vinyl better than will denim?
I'd await an account of Tod's firsthand experiment before I tried it.
It's always seemed to me that even when worn over blue jeans, leather chaps left certain areas of one's body exposed to evaporative cooling when one is riding in the rain.Fred Hill, S'toon

As for riding with nothing under your chaps... I'd think in those pucker moments... it might be more beneficial to have something covering the more expulsive parts... just in case...

Will skin grip vinyl better than will denim?
It also is beneficial as no one will ever ask for permission to sit on your bike...

Nothing under the chaps
Just think of the money you will save on those pills to make things bigger. Just plan some quick stops peridoically and the grab factor will do it naturally!
Of course on those unplanned quick stop incidents, the "first you say it, then you do it" factor will really implement those "that will NEVER come out" discussions and kill the resale value.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!
