OK .. I know I have seen discussions about finding SS hardware in the past. A "search" brought up way too many threads to sort through. SO... does someone who was involved with one of those threads have a link to a GOOD source for SS hardware that can be posted.
    Thanks
    Rob

If you are thinking about fasteners (cover bolts etc.) for the XS. DiverRay put me on to a seller on e-bay. Seller has a kit for sale every once in a while with just about every metric Allen screw on the bike. At least those most seen. Looks like its cheaper than buying onesies and twosies. Around here the selection is in bags of a hundred!
Plus you don't burn up the fuel chasing them down.
Just just search in "parts"... you know that anyway....

Thanks for the info I was about to go search e-bay. I can find cases cover bolts and carbs bolts and most of the common sizes. I am having some issues finding the longer ones. The local SS hardware outfit has the same sizes but not the right lengths. All are too short or too long.

ya I have bough cover and carb kits from this lad in the past. At this point the only ones I can not find are the 10mm FINE thread types in socket head. Everything is available so it looks like the rear foot peg hangers and rear fender bolts which are threaded into the frame will be SS hex head types.
              Thanks for the input guys.

Check out this ebay AUCTION HERE.

The guy sells a STAINLESS V-MAX 18 PIECE METRIC FINE KIT. I bought one for my bike and it had enough of the M10 fine bolts to do the footrests, front brake calipers and (and I forgot what else)!.

It also includes nice stainless dome nuts for your shock mountings. (also fine thread).

He says UK post but a quick email to him and he was happy to ship anywhere!

Top tip... Pick up some M7 bolts while you're there. The next time you strip out a M6 on the bike you can replace it with a M7.

Yeah, that's a bummer. McMAster used to ship to Canada, even for small orders. Last time I tried them they muttered something about customs paperwork. I got lucky and had one of our XSives south of the line purchase for me and reship across the line. IIRC, we used Paypal for the $ part of the transaction.

Nobody else has mentioned it, so if this is the first time you've used stainless hardware make sure you use some anti-seize on anything that goes into aluminum and also pay attention to torque. Most stainless is not quite equal to a grade 5 steel bolt in strength, so you need to match the torque to the bolt, not necessarily the factory amount. Stainless is a b***h to drill out...

Bolt Depot has some nice charts that you can download with all this info.

I am in deed using anti seize on all the bolts that go into alloy. It one of the PITA parts of the job. I'm torquing at bolts to factory spec. no problems yet.
