For those who have asked about a video of carb synching. This is pretty good and in depth on a very similar bike. Note that on the XS1100 the vacuum ports to use for carb synching are the ones on the intake boots next to the head.

Great video showing correct technique with the right tools, but couldn't help thinking that 'int it 'mazing how the english cant speak english. His bike seems to have 'oses and 'andlebars and such. Wonder where they come from

Heck bein' from the midwest, we tend to "warsh" things. Depending on what part of the country your in you drink "soda", "pop", "soda pop", or even a "soft drink". So many versions of english in the good ole' USA you could think you changed countries, so I don't get to hung up on the versions.

I have been so long away that I can't put the accent closer than somewhere in the midlands. It's not harsh enough for Liverpudlian and not whiny enough for Mancunian but it's from somewhere around that area. The speaker is also "talking posh". That is, he's obeying the rule that says "F**king is only one word in the English language, not every second one."

My folks were raised in Northern Illinois, and I was raised in SoCal, and it wasn't until I was in Jr. High that I realized that it wasn't called "Pop" by the local kids. However, I was raised on "News Anchor English", so proper pronunciation and grammar have always been important to me. I remember when the California government tried to legalize "Ebonics" as a recognized dialect in the schools. That only lasted about a year (thank goodness!). Now that I'm back in the Midwest, every time I hear something about "Warshington", it makes me wince a bit. That and the politicians who pronounce the state name "miz-ER-uh". My mom is now living in England, and it's weird to hear her refer to her mother-in-law as "Mum".

We now seem to have an entire generation that thinks that F**K is the only word in the engliish language. Personally I blame the Australians and their criminal roots

In was once asked by customs at Melbourne airport if I had a criminal record and i replied by saying that I didn't think it I still needed one to get into the country.. Luckily the dude was an Irishman and saw the funny side.

Yeah, I suppose Wiki has it right. A lot more technical gibberish than I would have used, but ok... To me, it's lazy english. If you've listened to any amount of rap music, I would imagine you've heard some of it.

My wife is a teacher in a school that is 98% African American (including staff). She teaches the little kids (kindergarten-2nd grade) with special needs. She held up a flash card for a spelling lesson that had "Ax" on it and asked the class what this meant. The only response was, "you know, to axe me a kestion!".

the Wiki item mostly explains it but it also started out as a "secret language" developed by black slaves in the Southern States so that Ol' Massa couldn't understand them plotting to escape. I'd suppose that teaching modern Ebonics as a school subject is inherently doomed to failure because it's speakers would immediately change it to stop White folks learning it.

I don't think anyone ever thought of actually "teaching" it, but I know in California, they were making it so teachers could not tell the students that they were speaking incorrectly if they "axed a kestion". It was to make it a legally acceptable form of speech in the schools.

I was a method to get federal funding for the school that is reserved for helping bilingual students where english is not their native tongue. They proposed that Ebonics was the "native tongue" for these students and therefore they would qualify for the money.

Now as to the video, did this dude ever date Mrs. Doubtfire??

Okay, That I can relate too. Sounds a lot like whats happening here, where the 6% Ethnic Minority gets 94% of the funding to teach a language (Te Reo Moari) that is peculier to this country only, spoken no where else in the world, (except maybe in Bondi Beach in Australia) and is on no use whatsoever to anyone except themselves.

We have entire schools where everything is taught in Moari and English is frowned on, yet we are an English speaking country. I don't have an issue with a race preserving its heritage but come on..
