  • XS shortage

I was wandering around E-bay a this eve and took a look for XS1100's.
    Didn't find a one.
It seems like there are fewer and fewer up for sale. Before June last year, more like March, when I bought the two lappers it seemed as though you could go to the site and find eight or nine for sale.
I really didn't look on a regular basis after about late September but it seemed to be the same then. November there were still a few.
Are people just turning them into parts?
Could they are saving them for driving weather to sell their bikes?
I haven't been looking for them all year long but it just seemed weird that they would just dry up. With tax time coming up I would figure there would be a lot of old "dusties" up for sale.

I kinda agree with you. What I am also noticing is the price of them are getting cheaper along with the parts. I put a couple together in the last couple years. I do alot of ebay/craigslist searching/looking and that is my observation..... for what ever its worth.

I agree. I stopped selling parts on ebay for now, the auctions don't bring any $$, because nobody has any $$ for parts they don't need. It seems to me that everything is worth about half of what it sold for a few years ago. I've got three xs11's to sell this spring and I'm sitting on them because i'm afaid I won't get anything on auction. So if you want one I have a 78xs11, 79special, and a 78 xs11custom. All are good turnkey bikes. I'm going to list the 78xs11 in a few weeks.

Thanks for the compliment, It will kill me to sell any of them. The bills have to be paid and the kids have to eat. I've got four bikes and can only ride one. The standard will go first, I just don't ride it. I'll list it on ebay after the start of spring. After that it will really hurt, the black one is a throphy, and the bobber is my own creation. Every time I look at it I like it more. I won't give any of them away. Maybe I could sell the kids to pay my bills, then I wouldn't have to feed them either!

              It appears...

that several have migrated northward to Ontario where ossjughead is currently corralling as many as possible... 3 in the last month, I think?

xs11lover... that is truly unfortunate... that Bobber is a thing of beauty... Hopefully, the powers that be will let you do what you want to do with them...

                XS11lover,
That is a fine looking stable of XS's.
                Don't sell the kids.
Just indenture them until the bills are paid.
                Keep the bikes.
The bikes are only eating when you ride them!

Feel free to come check it out. I'd hoped to sync the carbs Sunday. Then replace the right rear view, clean it up and sell it.

LOL Kat that is true i have found 3 in the last month and all baggers but 2 are for sale i am keeping the 81 xs venture but the other ones are for sale i am going to get them this weekend. I have a line on a 80 standard wich is what i want for my next keeper but am waiting for the price to drop on it, Its needs a complete restore. As for there being a shortage i found last year there was not many didnt find any well i did but all in bad shape needing lots of work that dosent bother me its what they where asking for them that was bad.

P.S. If anybody knows of a xs or maxim 400 in my area let me know Lori wants to try riding this year so am looking for somthing for her she is 5'1 so needs to be short

                            not enough bikes?

The problem is once you get one fixxed up we get hooked and get another project , I've got two now and I know a lot of other xsives can say the same
