  • Look at what I got for $40.00 on eBay!!

And only about 35 miles from my house. I can't beleive no one bid on them at all. I'll be putting these on the "F" I'm selling and putting the Jardines on the "G" I'm keeping. The Kerker that's on the "G" will be restored, possibly powder coated, for when the Jardine gives up.
I think these are replacements, not originals because of the plaque that's on the end of the muffler (pic). The manifolds are also double walled by the feel of them. Just picked them up and haven't done a thorough inspection.
    Opinions welcomed.

Only has minor surface rust in the areas you cannot see when installed. Of course, I will be polishing that out and treating it to prevent further oxidation.

Stock Exhaust, New Handlebars, 1" Spacer in Fork Springs, Automatic CCT, Showa Rear Shocks

Automatic CCT, RC Engineering 4 X 1 Exhaust, K&N Pods, #50 Pilot Jets, YICS Eliminator. Sorely missed.

    Wow...what a steal!!

They do look to be aftermarket of some kind though. Mine are stamped by Yamaha and do not have the "boxes" at the cross connect.

Those are in fact Yamaha replacements.................not aftermarket. Good find........and would be keepers for a keeper XS............definitely would keep over evenJardines.........just my opinion looking at keeping an XS as close to an original as possible.

            DGXSER,
They're not aftermarket because they have a Yamaha stamp and number on them. I just think they are factory replacements.

            Motoman,
You really think so? Considering the performance improvements gained with proper jetting and a less restrictive exhaust? Once I test drive them on the "F" I'll have a better frame of reference and let you know if it makes a noticeable difference.

            BikerPhil,
You better beleive it!! $15 in gas beats $70+ in shipping any day. Can't wait to test them out.

            Ctatonic,
When you find an original set like these you just count your blessings, no matter the color....... you can always change that.

            Thanks

I just won this at Ebay after a mini bidding war. Man, was I happy to come out winning it as it's something my girlfriend and son will both really appreciate.

I couldn't help wondering if I was bidding against a couple of you members here. Hope not....

Sorry about that. I was bidding strictly with the motive of safety for my son and girlfriend.

Did you try for the other one with the lower backrest? Would have been nice if they were selling one hour apart .

Congrats to both of you on some good scores.

DJ I have that same rack on my SH. It comes in very handy although SWMBO does not ride and wont let my kids on. I keep some bungees in the zippered pack and strap stuff on all the time.

Excellent SCORE ... They are in deed Yamaha. The 78 and 79 standard exhaust has those "boxes" at the cross over. The labels on the side were needed when the bike was sold in some states. Here in Canada those labels are not on the mufflers.

                            Don,

I was watching the backrest/luggage rack. I saw that it went for $250.00. I did not bid. Just food for thought. You asked the question concerning if members here may have been bidding against you. Not trying to be a smart a#@ here but of course 95% of the time you are probably bidding against someone on this forum. Sometimes it helps to let folks here know what your bidding on and why you need the item. It may have saved a bid as in this case and the rack may not have ended up costing you as much. Of course on the same vein you could actually be alerting everyone else to something they had not found on their own on the Bay.

That's exactly why I kept my mouth shut.

I'm still planning on going on that North East ride to VT so this ought to give my girlfriend a whole lot more comfort, plus I can put a duffle bag on the rack if needed.
