I talked to Kat and was asked to pass on that John got through the surgery just fine. They got everything out except one screw. Apparently he DOESN'T have a screw loose?

I'm sure Kat will tell you all about it more later, so thanks for your well wishes and prayers.

        Quick update

John's in a lot of pain (to be expected) but has a sense of humor and is already giving them a hard time (in a good way)
If his pain level goes down enough... they'll send him home tomorrow...

and they gave him some good stuff too...

Demerol a couple of times... he wasn't nearly as entertaining on it this time around... bt it did what it was supposed to do... and that's all that really matters...

                and the best part?

                He's home!!

Hurting a bit but doing well...

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers... so far so good...

                          Great to hear!!

Glad to hear all is progressing well! Back at home and ready to slowly get back in the swing of things!

Incredible they can open you up enough to pull stuff out like that and go home the next day. Did they install the zipper the first time?

Enjoy the pain meds. Glad to read you finally got the lead out. Tough way to do it.

                              Damn That Hurts!!!

Hey y'all, thanks for the kind words and well wishes. The Dr only prescribed Tylenol 3 w/codine, and that stuff has never really helped me much, but WK has some Hydrocodone left over from her surgery last year. That seems to be working well. I finally had a decent night's sleep last night...only woke up four or five times, but was able to get back to sleep. Poor Kat, she is a light sleeper, and any movement or groaning I may do wakes her, and I must have gotten up 3-4 times to use the bathroom. I have only able to lie on my back the first two days, but last night I spent some time on my left side. What a relief! I normaly sleep on my belly/left side so I am getting closer to my normal sleep position. Getting out of bed is very painful, but getting easier each time, once I remembered the body mechanics I used when I first had the hardware installed.
Again, thanks to all who left well wishes, I appreciate it.
