  • What's it worth?

I have a line on what I think is an 81 XS11 Venturer.

This is all through my friend who knows a little about old Yamahas, and a lot about scoots.

He said it is an 81 with round gauges, a standard tank, a pacifico fairing including the tape player, driving lights and full bags.

He didnt know to look for the front axle placement or the rear wheel size and other clues as to what it was, but it sure sounds like what a Venturer was, from what I know.

He says the bike is immaculate. Great paint and 21k mileage. The only thing he said he could see wrong with it was a small tear in the seat.

It is being sold as the owner passed on, and his son is acting as an agent for his mother. Asking 1300, but might go to 1200.

What would soething like this be worth, as an estimate?

Ivan, Look on the EBAY XS listings. There is an original (very nice) 1981 Venture with 4K miles that is up to $1925. The bidding ends this afternoon.

      Hi Ivan,
don't sweat the price. Sure, we have seen $300 or even $50 bargains mentioned on the list but not everyone is that lucky. The $1,300 asking price is about right for a private sale with no backsies or warranty. If you want it, go for it.
A year or so down the road you won't even remember what you paid.
The ante will either be forgotten in the joy of riding or buried in repair costs.

          Is it worth it

The venturer did NOT come with round guages OR pacifico fairing. At most, this is a hybrid; round guages are from some year of special, large tank is from standard (5 or so gallon) or venturer ( 6 or so gallon). It still could be worth 12 or 13 hundred dollars, depending on it's condition and mileage.

Well, the story goes that we were planning on having an extraneous tax bill this year, so we started stuffing every last penny in savings. As it turned out, we ended up getting a sizable return. Alas, SWMBO and I decided to pay down some of our debt. Hopefully, this will free up some income in the future.

Anyway, if any one here is interested, I can try and find more info or try and get some contact infrmation.
