    The Dead Horse

Young Tim in Montana bought a horse from a farmer for $100. The farmer agreed to deliver the horse the next day.
The next day the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry son, but I have some bad news... the horse died."
Tim replied, "Well, then just give me my money back."
The farmer said, "Can't do that. I went and spent it already."
Tim said, "Ok, then, just bring me the dead horse."
The farmer asked, "What ya going to do with him?"
Tim said, "I'm going to raffle him off."
The farmer said, "You can't raffle off a dead horse!"
Tim said, "Sure I can, watch me. I just won't tell anybody he's dead."
A month later, the farmer met up with Tim and asked, "What happened with that dead horse?"
Tim said, "I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two dollars apiece and made a profit of $998."
The farmer said, "Didn't anyone complain?"
Tim said, " Just the guy who won. So I gave him his two dollars back."
Tim grew up and now works for the government. He’s the Secretary of the Treasury. He's the one who figured out how this "bail-out" is going to work.

Cute one. Too bad Tim can't do math. If he lost $100 to the farmer, then sold 500 tickets at $2 each, then lost $2 back to the winner of the raffle, he would have made $898 profit.

Exactly the point. He can't do math and he's our Sec of Treasury?

But then he doesn't have to "do the math". He uses ..................

You're barking up the wrong tree John. My father in law lost everything in that deal. He was a line mechanic for Enron. He lost his stocks...his pension and basically everything. The Texas Teachers Pension was destroyed in that fiasco and no body bailed them out.

I think it's utterly hypocritical what is going on today. AIG and Fannie and Freddie all cooked the books and they got a bail out.

Enron did essentially the same and no one "bailed them out".

Oh that's right I forgot....they are "BIG OIL". it's ok to bail out "BIG INSURANCE or BIG BANKS when they screw up...because it may hurt too many people. But not "BIG OIL"...no matter how many people get hurt...because they are ......... "BIG OIL"

BTW...Ken Lay donated more to the Clinton campaign than he ever did Bush.

I've never met a librarian who was much into revolutions. They tend to be rather quiet...

Well, this is the worst dead horse crisis since....... well since ever!
All those people who bought dead horses were victims of predatory horse traders.
We must nationalize the feedstores! Build more livery stables!
And the saddle makers, don't get me started with the saddle makers.

All you folks who have healthy horses will just have to 'pony up'!
