Just out of curiosity, which of all the stock Yamaha XS and XJ 11's that came out from 1979 to 1984 was the fastest?

Which XS was the fastest? The first-year '78 was the only one that ever delivered sub-12 second 1/4 mile times for the magazines to my knowledge. And they smoked the clutch in the process (I think I still have that 'Cycle World' issue around here somewhere...). My ex worked for a dealer, and I was told that the '79-up bikes had been detuned for reliability/longevity/economy.
The later bikes didn't get as much coverage (being basically unchanged) but in the tests I remember, performance was in the low 12s.
The best XS? The one YOU own, of course!! LOL
