      Well, Prom ...

This bike makes three good 'uns and a parts SF. Sold the dark blue F last summer to a Marine ... was happy to get it too.

        looks good

Man , I can't wait to see it in person , you should just pull your carbs off the sf and see if it fires after a much needed fluid replacement!

No, no, Planedick ... not this one ...

I hope, gulp !! This one cleaned up real good ... isn't now running but think it will once I clean the carbs up ... the PO is a friend of many years so he knows what he did to it (if he remembers ..lol) the few issues I know of are: one or more calipers locked, questionable fuse box repair, possible leaking oil feed pipe, possible leaking fuel taps, tires and battery and I even have a good spare motor just in case .... doesn't really even need paint. So for sure, I have a lot of work ahead and much of the stuff it needs already, but it's mostly work and some cash. This one looks real straight and is my favorite model so I think it's gettin' the tour package off my Special and the Special is going back to stock and onto the auction block, if I can bring myself to part with it, that is. Crazy, eh?.

The problem with your plan is that is a standard. The mounts for the fairing and boxes ARE different. If you have access to a '78 fairing, I have a spare mount. Once I get some paint on the fairing I do have, I will be pulling the '79 fairing off the bike I got from planedick, and putting the 78 on it. I would then have one spare '79 with mount for a standard.
Great looking bike for the age! I hope to hear it is running some time soon.

                Hmmmm...Ray ...

I'll have to take a closer look at that. Thought the tour package I put on there came off a Standard though. Fit right on ......

The '79 fairing mount may fit, but the bag mounts are different. You probably made one or two new holes in the stock mounts so things would work.

                    Here's a few pics, Ray ..

The bag bracket and rails mount on the upper shock stud and the former turn signal mount hole up top, then on the bottom, between the footpeg and exhaust hanger bracket. I also used a hinged G rear fender half cuz I liked the bigger, higher up stop/tail light. The taillight arrangement on the G fender made it easier to mount the cross bar rear signal indicators as well. As it sits now, it's kind of a 'squared off' special. If I have my way though, it's all gonna' revert to original ... I saved the buckhorns

                      Nice looking machine!!
The fairing and mount should bolt up! It looks like the boxes are from a standard, so they should work as well. It HAS been about 30 years since I had my "full dress" standard, so I don't remember all the details. I DO remember the boxes for the special had mounts with different part numbers, as one of the mount points was different.
