Hey folks,
Well, somehow, the kid that I had fixed that computer for with a whole new case, mobo has somehow fried it again I think.
Compaq Evo D500c mobo, P4/2.4Ghz, 512 DDR Ram, AOPEN powersupply.
Hit the power button, CPU and Case fan spins for a brief moment and HD indicator case led and CDrom power lights lite up also, then stops, repeats every couple of seconds ad infinitem. Can hold power button back in for several seconds, and it stops. No POST messages on video, doesn't stay on long enough, just a half second blip. No post beeps, NADA. The Mobo on board LEDs are green and stay on, only blink when surging on, not blinking yellow or red. When I shut it down, the green leds stay on.
I swapped out powersupply with known good one, same symptoms. I removed the AGP vid card, PCI sound card, PCI NIC card, had monitor connected to onboard video outlet, tried again, same symptoms.
I have not YET tried swapping the CPU or RAM. When I put it together a few months ago, used good heatsink and paste, and cpu fan, and it does spin for a brief moment when power gets surged, so I don't think the CPU got cooked, was not overclocked and fan still seems good.
Does this sound like a fried Mobo?? Any other suggestions? No visible swollen or popped capacitors on Mobo!
Thanks in advance!
