  • The Radix Kit, Let It Snow

    A nice Snowcross kit for this time of year.

    The Radix kit is available for a wide variety of applications:

    * Honda- CRF 2002-2009 450R - 450X, 250F, 250X
    * Yamaha- YZF 2003-2009 450F - WR 450, 250F, WR250
    * KTM- 2000-2009 400 - 450 - 505 - 520 - 525 - 530
    * Husaberg- 450 - 550 - 650
    * Service Honda- (CR 500 motor, 250X chassis)
    * Kawasaki- 2006-2009 KXF450R, KLX 450
    * Suzuki- RMZ 450 2005-2009

    Prices are pretty reasonable considering your riding season extends year round, which is a big deal for those of us in snow country, you warm weather guys need not bother. The Radix kit starts at: $4,249 while the Rogue begins at $12,950. Kinda cool.

    That looks like more fun than should be allowed by law! I used to ride snowmobiles as a kid, but nothing like that.

    Have you seen the retrofit kits they make for trucks? It's basically two of those kits, but much bigger, and it looks wicked. There's something about putting tank treads on the back of a vehicle that just makes it look tough.
    I know this, because Tyler knows this.

      Have seen a couple guys try these conversions, also the track kit for the pickups. That kit requires brake mods (left and right side controls) so you drive it like a skid steer loader, brakes one side or the other.

      Back to the bike adaptation...I would not try it. Very dangerous on anything other than flat trails. Incredibly easy to wipe out on any kind of turn or rough trail. They look cool, don't work worth a d***. No stability at all. I saw a couple guys wipe out in a snow-covered parking lot at a snowmobile show, decided to pass on this particular mode of snow travel.

      Besides, for a lot less money you can get a real snowmobile. I bought a 2005 Yamaha RX-1 with 684 miles on it for $3,200.00 this summer.

      (Stock photo, same color and model. but mine has Simmons Flexi-skis on it.) The RX-1 engine is based on the Yamaha R1 engine, shares many components and is rated at 145 hp. Carburated, not FI. Really flies.

        exactly what I thought when I saw it Jerry, very top heavy and ready to roll over on the slightest curve in my opinion.

        Around here a snow mobile would be alot like a yard decoration most of the year, we just dont get that much snow or for any duration.
