It's funny... I was just thinking about this, and I don't think I have EVER purchased a grown-up book for myself! I have bought a few childrens' books as nostalgia from when I was a kid, but unless you can consider Shel Silverstein a grown-up author, I have never bought a book for myself that was not a childrens' book.

I guess it just comes down to the fact that I would never think to pick up a book as a form of enjoyment or entertainment.

              Hi 'Bug,

A book is the densest information transfer device that exists and as a book a day reader I just cannot understand where your head is at about not reading for pleasure. Mind you, as a raging acrophobic that is also how I feel about sky divers. Jumping out of a working aircraft with nothing but a backpack full of cloth and string in the hope it will actually deploy on command? OK I know there is a reserve 'chute and that 'chutes are just as reliable as the average aircraft but still, they gotta be nuts!

I do agree with you about the sky-diving folks. I like to keep my feet on something stable. But, as far as the books go, my brain processes text in a rather unusual manner that makes it take me 3 times longer than most to read a page of type. I have always wished that I could read faster, but I have learned to simply find enjoyment in video or audio information instead. I even have my scriptures in MP3 format. I will sit and watch documentaries for hours on end, while my wife would much rather read a book. It's just too much work for me.
